Our daughter got married on Saturday, January 19, 2013 and we held the reception at the Governors Club. First of all, the venue is located in a stunning setting in an upscale golf course community. All through the planning process, our main contact, Lisa Johnson, Director of Sales and Catering at the Governors Club, was a pleasure to deal with. After we agreed on the format and signed a contract, Lisa and the chef went out of their way to make changes to accommodate our needs.

In the final week before the wedding (in spite of Lisa coming down with the flu), significant changes were made to accommodate the size of our reception due to a higher than expected invitation acceptance rate. When the big night arrived, the presentation, food and service were wonderful. All of our guests went out of their way to say what a nice reception it was and how good the food was.

In summary, the actual reception exceeded our expectations, which were already very high.

I had the pleasure of returning to Governors Club this month and this time it was for our corporate holiday dinner. The event was wonderfully planned by on site coordinator Lisa Johnson. The food was amazing and the service was perfect! I always leave anticipating my next visit. Kudos to the staff for making each and every visit a memorable occasion! In a time where exceptional customer service seems to be on the decline, Governors Club is a refreshing and welcomed experience.

I was married just three days ago (10/20/12) at Governors Club (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception) and couldn't wait to get on here to write a review. I'm bursting with positive things to say about not only the day of my wedding but the past 365 days leading up and how amazing Lisa Johnson and the entire GC staff has been!!!

First off, the venue is absolutely stunning. Set in the rolling hills of NC, the golf course and grounds are superbly maintained. The Clubhouse is immaculate and they are eager and willing to cater to your every need.

Secondly, their willingness to bend over backwards is unparalleled! Never once throughout the planning process did Lisa appear uninterested in my big day. You would have thought it was her own daughter getting married. She (and everyone else) is so personable and they go out of their way to make you feel so special.

I cannot tell you how many compliments have been pouring in from guests who were in attendance. No detail was missed and I was completely stress free (no joke!) the entire week and weekend leading up - all because of the professionalism and "110 percent" attitude that is ingrained in the GC staff.

Needless to say, it was the best weekend of my life and I am one happy bride. I would recommend this venue a thousand times over.

My daughters wedding on Sept 1st, 2012 at the Governors Club was nothing less than perfect. Lisa Johnson and staff helped her have a wedding personalized to meet her every wish. Requesting a completely gluten free menu was accomplished with guests not even aware of it. "Amazing, beautiful, wonderful food, and best wedding I have ever been to" - were some of the comments of our guests. From the cocktail hour on the beautiful outdoor patio, to the spacious elegant reception room, we could not have picked a more perfect venue. Thank you Governors Club for a day we will never forget!

Unbelievable Experience!!!. We have such wonderful memories of our daughter’s wedding at the Governors Club. Lisa Johnson and the hospitality and catering staffs helped to make this an unforgettable experience. It was such a delight working with Lisa and her staff. No request that we made went unattended. The location was absolutely perfect. The hospitality and catering staffs addressed our every need. We could not have been more thrilled with our wedding experience at the Governor’s Club.

Wedding exceeded our expectations!. My husband and I had our reception at the Governors Club in November 2011. I can honestly say for the both of us that our reception at the Governor's Club was even better than we could have ever imagined.

Lisa Johnson is phenomenal! She was amazing to work with from start to finish. Her ability to really understand what you want from your day and turn it into just that is invaluable. Every question we had (and we had A LOT) she had an answer for, and she even had answers to questions we didn't know we had yet. Her suggestions for vendors were perfect!

Chef is amazing as well, the food was awesome. It's been over a month and people are still talking about how great the food was. He is wonderful to work with and really developed incredible creations based on our initial interview.

Overall our experience with Governors Club was exceptional. Based on other receptions we had attended we expected some hiccups but not here, everything went perfect! I think we are both still in shock at how wonderful the day was and how elegant and memorable our reception was - it certainly exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend having a reception here!

Beautiful wedding venue. Our daughter was married at the Governors Club in December 2011. As we were looking for venues that could accomodate our guest list of 300, we discovered Lisa Johnson and the Governors Club. What a lucky day for us!! We walked through the doors for that first meeting and were not only greeted by the gorgeous facility but by the very friendly staff. Lisa was fantastic to work with, start to finish. Everything we asked of her was answered with "Sure, we can do that! " and ,boy, did she deliver!! Oh, and the food!!! Chef Ben is amazing! Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything tasted! He was so attentive to every detail, not only was the food delicious but it was beautifully presented. The staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful! Planning a wedding can be so stressful. I cannot thank Lisa Johnson, Chef Ben and everyone at the Governors Club enough. Because of them, I was able to walk through the doors on the day of the wedding worry free!

PERFECT Venue for Weddings. My husband and I were married at the Governors Club in November 2011. We had approximately 150 friends and family in attendance and each of them had nothing but positive comments about the event. There has not been a day to go by that I don't think about our wedding day and I cannot imagine a more perfect venue for us to celebrate our union. The Governors Club wedding coordinator (Lisa Johnson) was on top of every detail and worked hand in hand with us and our wedding coordinator to ensure everything was perfect for our big day. Lisa was not the only person to go above and beyond. The entire staff worked hard to ensure everything was in place and that there were no problems. The food was exceptional, the staff was friendly and helpful and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Our guests are still contacting us with positive comments about the entire event and I am sincerely thankful to Lisa Johnson, Chef and the entire Governors Club staff for helping make our wedding day a dream come true. I have no regrets and look forward to the opportunity to host another event at this lovely venue.

Wedding Place. From the father of the bride.

Wow! What a place to host a wedding at. Lisa Johnson was the best ever to deal with. She made us feel engaged from the first meeting through the wedding ceremony and reception. The staff was outstanding and Chef Ben prepared a grand meal for all to enjoy. Everyone who attended remarked what a grand wedding it was and that it was a top notch affair. Nothing was overlooked to insure it was done right for us. It will be a day to remember for everyone. I don't think you could find a better place to have a wedding at anywhere.
