Best place to live in Chapel Hill! – This is my first year living at Warehouse and I absolutely love it! I am a transfer student and I was very hesitant about getting matched with random girls (they match it based on compativility), but it turned out great! My roomates are now my best friends. Anyway, there are two layouts, one is a corner and the other is a center. I am currently living in the corner apartment, in the smallest bedroom in the apartment. When I first walked in, I was terrified because of how small it looked, but I fit everything I wanted in it and it really isn't that bad. I fit a full sized bed, a night stand, and a desk. The best part of the apartment is the way they look. The walls are brick, the roofs are high, one of the walls is painted (you choose the color) and there is no carpet! The complex itself is in a very convenient location. The academic buildings are a 10-15 minute walk from the apartments, franlklin street, restaurants, bars, are right across the streeet, and there is a bus stop right at front! Also, they are a safe place to live. The doors are always locked, with the exception of office hours, and there is a security guard on the weekends. I definitely recommend living here!
New Resident! – I am a new resident at the Warehouse this year, and I already love it! I was able to fit all my furniture from home into my new room and still have floor space open. The apartment was freshly painted, including an "accent wall color" (we chose green), and all our appliances work well. I also cannot WAIT for the new gym and study lounge that are opening soon!
My friends who have visited, love the brick walls and bright colors throughout the apartment building and some have already made inquiries about living here next year. I tested out my walk to campus the other day and it only takes about 5-7 minutes, which is way closer than my South Campus dorm last year.
So glad I snagged one of these apartments for my sophomore year!
Best part of my Carolina experience! – I honestly LOVE living at Warehouse! This is my second year living here and there is nothing like it in Chapel Hill. My friends who visit from other schools are SO jealous of these cute, loft style apartments. Right now, I live in a center-style apartment which looks almost exactly like the model apartment I toured when deciding where to live. It has a ton of living room space and I have a full size bed, desk, bedside table, and TV stand in my room and still have some floor space to exercise.
The staff are very nice and most of them live here too so they really get it when you have issues or questions about different things. I like the location because it is incredibly close to campus and the streets are lighted at night.
There is a year lease, but I had no problem subleasing my apartment over the summer. Their website is also really helpful if you want to know more about Warehouse. Hands down, best decision I've made to live here: great people, cool building, fun atmosphere.
Highly Recommend – The Warehouse has such a convenient location! I loved my apartment the moment I entered it. Most of the other places in Chapel Hill are20+ years old or looked that old and Warehouse looked really modern and new! The maintenance staff is really nice and fixes my requests in a reasonable amount of time. The Warehouse staff is super friendly and even helped me find some to sublease my apartment because I'm studying abroad!! I would highly recommend this place!!
Great place to live! Close to campus! – Warehouse is an awesome place to live in Chapel Hill. I lived there my senior year and absolutely loved it! I could walk to all of my classes and didn't have to worry about missing the bus or finding a place to park on campus. I would definitely recommend living here to any UNC student!
Awesome, safe off campus housing! – This is my second year living at Warehouse and I wouldn't have it any other way! It is by far the nicest off campus housing in Chapel Hill that is walking distance to UNC (literally less than 5 minutes). The exposed brick walls and style of the apartments is really cool, and all my friends who live elsewhere spend way more time at my apartment than at their own. Maintenance problems are always fixed quickly and the office staff is very friendly and willing to help with any questions or concerns. I feel very safe walking back at night because Rosemary street is very well lit in this area and bars nearby are close enough that the streets aren't deserted but not too close so that any noise would bother me. Also, you have to use a key card to enter after business hours and security is there to help residents on the weekends. Washer/dryers are in all the apartments as well as nice kitchen appliances, and there's a 24 hour gym on site and free tanning! I recommend living at Warehouse very highly.
great location, great experience – I have lived in Warehouse for the past two years at UNC and I can honestly say that it is hands down the most convenient apartment complex in Chapel Hill. The building is located so close to campus that you can easily walk to class (where else off campus can you walk to class??) and its parallel to Franklin St. This means that I actually have countless choices when it comes to eating, instead of being on campus and stuck at alpine bagel or the terrible lenoir dining hall. Also the bar scene is literally a hop skip and a jump away and all the residents who live here are very fun, friendly, and diverse. The maintenance and office staff are incredibly nice and seems like they are always on top of their stuff. Overall I would say that the social experience and convenience are second to none.
Great Location Awesome People – This is the best location in Chapel Hill! I have met some really cool neighbors that live here and love my apartment. We haven't had any major problems with maintenance except for a clogged sink which was taken care of quickly.
Overpriced, Overrated and terrible Service – Terrible apartments, appliances constantly break and it takes forever to fix them. The internet is painfully slow, constantly say that they're going to fix it. Insects, especially spiders and lady bugs roamed the apartments.
Broken Apartment; Awful Management – Honestly, I loved it at first! I loved my roommates (matched based on compatibility), and I loved how close it was to UNC and to Franklin Street.
However, I was horrified to see the size of the apartment, I knew it was small, but it was smaller than I had anticipated. I was able to fit a full sized bed, bedside table and a desk in my room, and still have a lot of walking space (since I pushed the bed against a corner).
The corner units have nice windows, unlike the middle units, which are a little dark, so I liked that we had a corner unit, but the corner units have one room (Room A) that is a completely useless room... The girl who was assigned our room couldn't fit her furniture, and she was upset enough that she moved out within a week, and could not find someone to sublease to or break her lease. All you can really fit is a bed...and maybe a desk?
My biggest problem with the Warehouse- which overshadowed all the great things that I loved about it- was the fact that everything in our apartment kept breaking...I am not exaggerating!
List of things that we had trouble with:
The freezer leaked, so water froze everything inside together in big chunks of ice...
The washer and dryer did not work....
The dishwasher was replaced...
The AC leaked water...
The apartment above us flooded due to some piping issue and this caused water to leak into our apartment
The smoke detector also leaked, and this can become a serious, and a dangerous problem...
The AC still leaks, and has been leaking for 3 months
Each time I complained, management said they would "have it fixed". It was never fixed. The washer rips clothes and the dryer doesn't actually dry anything. Management barely responded to our problems, and the maintenance people kept claiming that everything would "fix on their own in time" (those are their exact words!!!)
Basically, while the warehouse is cute and a nice place to live, you may be better off living somewhere else, there are other places close to campus, that are priced similarly, or even cheaper.
