Great lunches in RTP – I work in RTP and visit A Gracious Plenty several times per week. They have a great menu selection and offer amazing weekly specials. Staff is very friendly and I always enjoy my visit. Definitely my favorite lunch spot in the area!
Great Food. Nice People. – I've been eating hear for a couple of years. I can always count on the food to be good and the staff to be friendly. Mic (one of the owners) is always a ton of fun.
I like it that they make everything to order. It may take a little time, but it's so much better than fast food and most of the other places in the area.
I love the deck when the weather is nice. It's a nice break from my computer and my cubicle.
My office uses A Gracious Plenty when we have luncheon meetings. We especially love the chicken piccata and roasted rosemary potatoes. Great hot food.
A Great Place For Catering Needs – I work in RTP and am in charge of placing the catering orders for working breakfasts and lunches. A Gracious Plenty is our go-to spot, not just because of the great location, but because I know when I order with them I'm going to get great food delivered to my door at the time I requested. Everyone here at the company has their favorites that they always order, but the new menu has been a huge success as well (try the jalepeno lime shrimp wrap)! If you have catering needs, definitely check out A Gracious Plenty - it's well worth it!
great food – I have been eating at A Gracious Plenty for a couple years now and have never been disappointed. The standard menu items are all well above the quality of fast food or other sandwich places in the area. Their salads are huge and the desserts are homemade and very tasty. They serve a great Cuban Panini as well as some of the best fries in town.
Customer service – I think theyneed that nice waitressvlady back to liven up the place, she was really good at customer service. They just can't keep good help
Strong online presentation, weak execution – I had been curious about this place for a while, so I looked it up online, and its website is cleanly designed, the menu looked interesting, and looked like a fun place, so we decided to check it out.
Once we walked in, we knew that the place wasn't going to be as good as its website had us believe. It takes a while to order, and takes even longer to get the food. We ordered a chicken panini and some mushroom sandwich with a banana cake with chocolate chips.
The chicken panini was ok. Not bad. Not excellent. It does look like I got "chunks" of chicken breast, rather than a chicken breast. It's an odd thing to notice, when you think about it. The tomato looked like it came straight out of a can. But... I like most everything, so I thought it was ok. I'll probably order something else.
Then there's the banana cake with chocolate chips. First, the server guy says it's not on the ticket. Um, yes, it is. The server and the lady who took my order need to work out what abbreviations are used for what cake, because obviously he has no idea what the last item on the ticket is supposed to be because it's missing so many letters compared to "banana cake with chocolate chips". And my second complaint is that I didn't get the cake. I was told that he'd bring it to me. Great. And he brought me something, but it wasn't a banana cake. It was an apple cake. He said they were out of banana cakes. Fine. You don't need to make me a new one. But I would like to choose between that and seven other cakes before I commit to waiting another 20 minutes on a piece of case.
Lastly, the decor. It must be the walls or something. I heard everyone's conversation. When I left the cafe, I thought: "ahhhh so quiet." I don't need the place to be like a library, but I don't want to be at a concert either.
Bottom line, I might eat their food again someday, but it'll be a carry-out(and I'll be calling in my order ahead).
Great food, great variety – I love this place. I eat here often and the reason that I can do so without being bored is the variety. They have affordable weekly specials that offer creative additions to their regular menu.
The service is generally very good. I have sometimes had to wait a bit because their food is prepared to order, which I prefer. They have always cheerfully accommodated any special requests or adjustments that I have asked them to make. And if I am in a hurry, I call ahead to place my order so that I don't have to wait very long. When I do have time to linger, I love to eat out on the deck.
They have made recent improvements to the interior which brighten the dining room.
It's a "best bet" in RTP.
Not so good customer service three times – I have tried this restaurant out three times and each time I feel like the money you spend does not equal to the quality of food or service. Each time I have been, my food was not as I ordered which is OK most of the time, but when the manager charges you to fix it and brings it back with the side item still there COLD this is a bit much. Once I stopped in for one of the homemade desserts and it was "STALE", I took it back and he wanted to charge me for another piece????? Why should I have to ask for hot items (that's a part of good customer service) I am REALLY not a complainer and eat a great deal in this area as I work here but this was strike three with the same restaurant.
Fantastic Lunch – I eat lunch out all the time and get tired of the same old menus. If I want variety, it seems I have to go to restaurants that make me wait or are entirely out of range for a daily lunch budget. Not so with A Gracious Plenty. A friend turned me on to them and I am hooked. High quality, friendly atmosphere, and delicious food. My personal favorite is The Blair Sandwitch Project. I plan to use their catering service for our office lunch meeting next week.
A Hidden Treasure – What appears to be an old-fashioned, little dive turns out to be some of the best "fast food" you'll have in the Durham area. A little run-down from the outside, with a completely gravel driveway, this little cafe offers a pleasant surprise. Tasty food and a very clean interior adds to the charm of this little place. For your first visit, try the Crispy Chicken Salad (honey mustard dressing is excellent). An added bonus - if you work in the RTP area check and see if they deliver to your office for lunch. With enough people ordering you can save yourelf a trip and have orders delivered. You will be hooked!
