Don't waste your time or $$$!. Ordered a veggie burger and when I went to pick it up, I tried to tell counter girl that website needed to be updated because prices and items had changed. She then scoured and treated me rudely. When I got back to office, I found they had put my over-microwaved burger (YUCK) on WHITE BREAD! I won't EVER go back there again!

Outstanding and HIstorical. We enjoyed coming to such a outstanding establishment, The Blue Coffee Cafe. The vision of Ms. Qwen to provide such a classy yet with a home -style atmosphere is appreciated in this day and time of hustle and bustle , The hard work and dedication of excellent service to the Durham community is praisedworthy. We thank you, Ms. Qwen one of few down home, kick your shoes off and enjoy peace and not worry about rushing- time.We want to add Blue Coffee Cafe as one of Durham finest and historical place to eat, in peace.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.. Upon a recommendation of my co-workers, we visited the Blue Coffee Cafe today. I placed my order (one hot dog w/ chips and iced tea). Twenty minutes later, I still did not have my order. This is unacceptable. First of all, there were less than half a dozen other patrons in the cafe. Secondly, although, they were pitifully understaffed, the staff there made no effort to hasten in their service. Despite the fact we had to take it back to the office to enjoy it, I can honestly say the food was good.

Good reviews going to their heads?. The food is great at the Blue Coffee Cafe, but the service is terrible. If you have time to waste, this is a great place to eat, and yes, the owner is a sweetheart. But if you have time constraints, for instance a one hour lunch break, you want to avoid this eatery all together. I have tried even calling in advance to no avail - the wait time is just as absurd as walking in.

My New Favorite Hangout In Durham!. The food, the music, the service, the atmosphere - it doesn't get any better than the Blue Coffee Cafe! The breakfast menu tops anything McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, or Burger King have to offer, the lunchtime selection of sandwiches, hot dogs, and other grilled items is more than satisfying, and the fresh goodies offered all day long (muffins, bagels, cake, etc.) keep you coming back for more. The staff is professional, prompt, and kind - and Gwen Matthews, the owner, is an absolute sweetheart. You can't afford to swing through Downtown Durham and NOT pay this cultural treasure a visit...you'll be robbing yourself of a shining example of just what makes our city so unique.

Indy coffee shop caters to downtown suits and urban hipsters.. In Short
A large, Ikea-furnished space hosts lunchtime diners, sofa loungers and after-hours social butterflies. On the menu: A full roster of coffee drinks, some Republic of Tea selections and a pared-down lunch menu. Broad Street Coffee provides the beans. Local faves Sweet Jane and Ninth Street Bakery provide the fresh-baked scones, muffins and danishes.

Keep this place open!. It is refreshing to get a great cup of coffee and it not have a "Starbucks" label on the cup. Make sure you stop by and try out this Durham based coffee shop. After a dinner at Joe and Jo's downtown, take a quick walk over and get a cup of coffee and dessert--makes for a great evening and an even better downtown Durham.

My new favorite place. Blue Coffee meets all the criteria for a great cafe -- cool music, good coffee, good croissants, cool staff, comfy couches. But my favorite is that they have an offside corner with a little table and easel where my kid can play & I don't have to chase after her to make sure she doesn't get run over by careless people carrying hot drinks. This is so much more relaxing than going to Fowlers, Fosters, or Mad Hatter.
