Great Service!. I'm grateful to Amy's Alterations for helping to alter my wedding gown! She did good detailed work, kept the gown in good condition and was happy to make changes until I was satisfied with the alterations. I have since brought a few other clothing items for her to alter. Thanks for all your help!!

Avoid this place. I did not have a good experience here...the staff is not helpful and difficult to work with (a little short with me, rude).

Out of 6 items, 3 had to be redone.

Won't go back based on response by owner and quality of work.

Terrible Experience. I had a bad experience here. They did a fine job on my pants (hem and waist)...but forgot to sew on a few of the buttons...just a lack of attention to detail. I waited around while they sewed them on.

Then I tried on my jacket and one side was significantly shorter than the other. She explained that I needed to tell her that one of my arms was longer than the other! I had never had this happen before, and the sides were significantly different, not by just a 1/4 of an inch, so I was a little annoyed that she told me about 5 times that I needed to let her know to measure both arms.

She should have known to measure both sides in my opinion in order to prevent a situation like this, but the situation would have been fine if she had simply said...this can happen, remind me to measure both sides next time, let me fix it for you. Instead, she said over and over that I needed to tell her these things and then asked me to pay for all the items, including the jacket...even though it wasn't fixed yet. Overall her attitude was rude, she made a lot of excuses, and I would be uncomfortable taking anything here again. When I go to a tailor I do understand that sometimes things do come out incorrectly or need to be slightly adjusted...but it should be handled professionally in order to keep customers. I definitely am not going back based on the work done and felt she was rude enough to get online and spend time writing this review... try a different tailor!

Great Alterations!!!. I moved to Chapel Hill in July 2007 and didn't know where anything was. I bought a dress in a shop two hours away for the military ball and it needed to be took in 2 sizes, (this was the last dress and I had to have it) so I bagan looking through the phone book. Amy's Alterations was the first place I came across and it was close to home so I took a chance. I took the dress to her and explained what needed to be done and to my surprise she said, "No problem". The dress was finished in just over a week and I couldn't even tell that it had been altered. She even stitched the bead work back perfectly around the bust just as it came!! I couldn't have asked for better and at just over fifty dollars, It was well worth it!! I will be visiting her often with my slacks to be hemed!!

Quick, friendly service, very good prices. I have used Amy's several times for things like hemming and repairing holes, and they have done a great job. I asked them to hem some designer jeans but without cutting off the bottom, and she knew exactly what I meant. When I had some dress pants hemmed she re-did the decorative stitching at the bottom without my asking. And always for $10 or less! Highly recommend.

Poor quality and poor attitude. 1) Used salmon color thread on my pink shirt. It's a very common pink and I saw they

have exactly the same color thread. They were just too lazy to change from the last

piece of work, or they were lack of the rigorous attitude to match the thread.

2) Very arrogant and wouldn't listen to your request. Their response is like "We've

been doing this for years, we know how to do it". 3) When I pointed out that the two

sleeves of my jacket look different, they responded as "Nobody would find out unless

people stand very close to you". Outside is just ok, but the reverse side of the clothes

are a total mess. Their standard is at the level of "look like", "seem like", "almost" or

"nearly". They have no concept of rigorous or precision. I understand that the clothes

can not look exactly the same after alteration, but there are a lot that they can do to

improve their work, like matching the color of the thread. I didn't expect that the two

sleeves can look the same as if no alteration, but at least the two should look the same

as each other.

Great Job on Wedding Dress!. I went to Amy's Alterations to get my wedding dress taken in two sizes and to have a bustle put in. It was a pretty difficult job due to the type of fabric and lining in the dress. I picked up my dress yesterday and it is PERFECT! I thought the price was very reasonable for all of the work they did. The ladies in there are very friendly.

Great Results. I needed to have my bridesmaid's dress hemmed, and Amy's helped me out. The result was beautiful, you couldn't even tell that it was altered. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they finished the work fast!
