If you like getting hosed, you'll love this. Do not go here, I used to really like this resturant. The truth is it really, really terrible the food is awful tasting, that is if you ever get to eat. Because the staff are such idiots they either forget to put in your oder or they forget to cook it who knows. I try to patron local establishments as often as possible. Its sad when this is the best that Durham has to offer in a local sports bar, I guess its Chapel Hill or Corp. from here on out. Note to Management test your staff for illecit substances , administer some sort of test to make sure they are capable of performing basic server duties like bringing flatware and condiments.

Bad for service great for drinks. If you're just looking for a place to have drinks this is the place but if you're looking for a dining experience don't bother. On a tuesday night they were out of 8oz Sirloin and wouldn't subsitute a larger cut for the same price. Server forgot our drink orders and then ended up getting our entire entre wrong. It was a mess and she didn't even offer any compensation for all of her mistakes. It was crazy and I wouldn't ever go back for anything more than hanging out and drinking a few.

Great Place to Watch Sports. This is a great place to watch sports. The food is more than adequate for a sports bar. Don't come looking for Chez Cuisine. When it comes to wings, sandwiches, fries, and the like, the Varsity Ale House passes every test.

This place has more than enough TVs, large and larger, all over the place. The staff is easy to communicate with and fun to talk to. The crowd is a true sports crowd, cheering and moaning throughout the games.

Last year, we held our fantasy football draft in the private upstairs room. It went so well, we're holding it there again this year. The room has a big screen television, a private restroom, and the wait staff handles all the food and beverage orders.

Looking for a spot to go watch the game, you can hardly find a better place to go than the Varsity Ale House.

What happened to my bar?!. This place was once my second home. The severs and bar tenders were excellent. Then all of a sudden they get new management and the place goes sour. The food is like it was placed under a heat lamp for hours, the new bartenders are awefull, and the regular crowd I came to love has abandoned the place like the Titanic. I hope they can pull it back together

Don't even bother. The wing, though they were spicy, had little to no sauce on them.

The salad (which was actually about 8 pieces of lettuce and a sprinkling of shredded carrots) was swimming in water.

The server was inattentive and forgetful.

The french fries were not cooked long enough and no better than the frozen ones you can buy at the grocery store. Plus the ketchup (that I had to ask for!) tasted gross.

And, if all that wasn't enough, our bill was way higher than it would have been if we had gone to a different sports bar in the area...

If only we had known!

Who needs an ESPN Zone with this Durham high-tech sports haven?. In Short
Plasma-screen TVs, stadium seating and a colossal menu win over sports fans in this Bull City establishment. From the seemingly endless menu, try the Bleu Max, a half-pound burger stuffed with blue cheese and topped with sauteed onions. Eight flavors of wings include Hawaiian (pineapple coconut) and Mexicali (three chili). Those watching their carbs will find lots of Atkins-friendly options.

Awesome Baby. It is about time a restaurant and bar like the Varsity Ale House has come to Durham. There is nothing like it in the Triangle, and trust me I have been to all the similar places around. Stadium seating is awesome, atmosphere is awesome, service is awesome, and guess what the food is awesome. It is definetly becoming the hottest place in Durham
