Not so good anymore.
I used to love Ming Garden, and sent my friends there all the time. Sadly, however, I've had two extremely disappointing dinners lately--completely tasteless. When I called back to try to politely tell them (I asked if there was a new cook), the hostess told me that maybe if I tell the manager next time, they would give me "a free order of rice."
At any rate, don't get the Walnut Chicken or the Teriyaki Chicken. Both these dishes are completely tasteless bland dishes swimming in white sauce.

fabulous!!!.
Wow! fabulous place. The dishes were really fresh. I didn't love the sweet tea, but hey, it's not particularly a Chinese drink : ) Prices were a 'little' high, but seriously, I had 2 meals in leftovers after we left the restaurant. And that's with me being pregnant, so, you know I was chowing down. I say, it was def. worth it. I saw a lot of people doing to-go orders, and I am sure we will be too because they were so so quick. Waiter was very friendly but not in an annoying way, place was super duper clean, romantic as well as great family atmosphere. My husband is vegetarian, and they will make any dish with tofu instead of meat (well, except l the Kung Pao chicken, etc, of course : ) ) so this was a HUGE plus for us since he usually orders the same thing at any Asian restaurant- and got to try out some new dish.....
We had a little bit of a hard time finding the place, though with Google maps-- It's in the Harris Teeter shopping center, FYI.

The place to go in Chapel Hill for Chinese food.
If you are looking for a Chinese restaurantood with gooey sauces in various shades of red and photos of your dinner on the wall, Ming Garden is not for you. But if you are looking for fresh ingredients and terrific taste, Ming Garden is definately the destination in Chapel Hill. We are lucky to live nearby, but our friends drive from all over Chapel Hill to eat in or take out at Ming Garden. We've ordered soups, appetizers, and at least half a dozen of their main dishes and have never had a bad experience. The prices are reasonable too. The restaurant is quite small inside but very tastefully furnished.

The Best Chinese food in the Triangle.
I love Chinese food and I have to say Ming Garden is the Best chinese resturant in the triangle area. The service is good the resturant is small but the food is excellent. Everytime I have chinese food somewhere else it just never compares. You can tell their food is fresh. All chicken dishes are served with only white meat which makes a huge difference in taste. If you want average Chinese food this is not the place to go. If you want excellent food Ming Garden should be your first choice. Dont' settle for less.
I highly reccomend the Chicken stir fry noodle (its a little spicy so if you don't like spice order it without spice) and the Mongolian Beef (spicy). The Beef Ho-Fun is also really good.

Chinese cuisine with dishes such as spicy shrimp with mangos, honey glazed walnut chicken or coconut curry vegetables.

Favorite Chinese in Chapel Hill.
Definitely a favorite of mine. It's classy but it's small so don't expect to have a quiet romantic dinner, but it's a great place to have a nice dinner and a glass of wine with a few friends or family members.

over priced.
While I have read good reviews I feel the quality of chinese food is average for above average prices. The wait was interminable and the atmosphere noisy.

Quite good.
The other reviews are pretty much spot on. This is definitely better than your average Chinese. Worth the trip, and it's cheap to boot.

Excellent food and service.
This is definitely the best option for Chinese food in Chapel Hill. The service is friendly, the food is ready quickly, and I've never had a thing wrong with my order whether I eat there or get takeout. The sesame chicken is very light and crispy, some of the best I've ever had, and their fried rice is fantastic.

Best Chinese in The Triangle.
This restaurant can't be beat for quality, variety, and service. I live in Pittsboro and still eat here once a week. It is the best chinese food I have had in North Carolina. The Dan Dan noodles are my favorite.
