In Short – Located in Chapel Hill's Southern Village, this contemporary bistro remains a favorite gathering spot for locals who appreciate a casual atmosphere and a menu loaded with everything from fried oysters to filet mignon. The dining area is large and filled with light, thanks to the massive windows that line the room. At the bar, guests order from a seection of infused vodkas while munching on gourmet bar fare like pan-seared salmon and Town Hall chili.

Awesome experience

by cbowen

This was our first time at the THG, and it was great. One half is a bar area to watch the game and have a drink. It was somewhat loud on that side, but you expect that with a bar. We sat in the dining area where it was a bit quiter. We had excellent service. The waitress stopped by regularly to check on us.

I started off with the chili special. Wow!!! It was not what I expected. There was no hamburger in this, but chuncks of steak! Not spicey, but very tasty. It came out about 2 minutes after we ordered. I had the fish and chips. My food must have come right out after pulling it from the fryer. It was so hot, I had to let it cool a bit. I hate when my food sits, especially when it is fried food. The chips are home made french fries, which enjoyed piping hot. My wife had the crab cakes. She loved them. We finished off with the banana budding.

Overall, we had a great time and an excellent meal. We arrived a few minutes before 6, so we were seated promptly. However, after 6, the place was packed and people waiting. We will be going back.

  • Pros: Great service, excellent food, food came out hot
  • Cons: Fills up quickly

Definately not bar food

by gokuchimp

Spacious dining area separated into different environments creates levels of appreciation of food versus background entertainment. Filet mignon with wild mushroom sauce, fried oysters, and a truly perfect chopped salad of romaine lettuce, blue cheese, sweet peppers, onions, peas, broccoli, and bacon will delight. Skip dessert and save time to make the movie, or stay around and cheer for the Heels!

  • Pros: Friendly staff, consistently good food if at times a bit slow
  • Cons: parking, noisy at times

Finally! A place where everyone knows your name!

I'm not sure if the other reviewer ate at the same Town Hall Bar & Grill. I've eaten there dozens of times, and have found the food to be fantastic and the service friendly (if a bit slow at times). It is the quintessential local restaurant where you can watch a game and drink a beer with friends, or enjoy a terrific meal with someone special. Try it, you'll like it!

  • Pros: Comfortable, Convenient, Excellent Food
  • Cons: Occasionally Slow Service
