Tips for Village Pediatrics-Chapel Hill

2nd home with 4 kids between 3 and 7. Prior to Chapel Hill, my family moved a lot. I've been in 4 different pediatrician's offices from DC to KS. Because of the moving, I've gotten to know how to judge a practice for my family. Like Goldilocks, I've traversed through big, medium and small practices and Village Pediatrics fits us just right. They have walk in sick clinics 6 days a week, multiple pediatricians, flu shot clinics, electronic records and a portal to communicate with the physicians, check lab results etc.

We have four kids, 3 of which have normal everyday childhood ailments. My outlier child is a doozy. She has many physical and behavioral issues. Dr. Gush took the time to work with us getting us the specialists and therapists to support our family and to help my child. A developmental pediatrician gave up on my child, but Dr. Gush did not and now she's thriving.

I feel lucky to have selected this practice because when things go south you have pediatricians who care, take their time, refer to the appropriate specialist and follow up on the care you are receiving.

Didn't Live Up to Reputation. I have really wanted to like this practice. After hearing glowing reviews around the community about Dr Gush, we were really excited. At first, the appointments for our newborn son went well.

At his four month checkup, we were left in the room for 45 minutes waiting for the nurse to vaccinate our son. They hadn't even remembered we were in there until we left the room to find out why there was such a long delay. (The nurse just thought it was hilarious that we were forgotten.) During that appt, we were advised to night wean our son (who has been EBF since the day he arrived) and to introduce solids (for no reason) around 4-5 months of age.

After that visit, I was hesitant about returning, but I decided to give them one last chance before we changed pediatricians. At his next checkup, they were 20 minutes late taking us back to be weighed and then, we were left in a room to wait for Dr. Gush for at least 35 minutes. I understand delays happen and offices get busy, but we watched Dr. Gush walk by our door several times. Would it have taken a long time to pop in, explain they were really busy but she'd be with us as soon as she could? When she finally arrived, she spent 4 minutes for our son's six month checkup. 4 minutes. The only positive that I can think of is that the practice was alternate-vaccine-schedule friendly. The doctors were good with my son, but he's laid back and happy so they could have pinched him and he still would have been fine.

Great Place to take our children. We just moved here from California and I was looking for a place at the time to take my 1 year son for his check up. When we arrived I saw that it was a small clinic, when i walked inside I saw tons of interesting toys for the kids to play with! I walked up to the receptionist and she introduced herself and shook my hand. After giving her all the information she needed we waited to be called. Which was 15 minutes later, something that was very nice because I have waited much longer other places. While we were in there, Doctor Gush came in to introduce herself. She wasn't even working that day. Dr. Gush and the staff were very friendly, I felt like we just belonged there. My son loved it there too (wasn't shot day). The way they interacted with him made me realize this is where I will continue to bring my son. He is now 5 and will be starting kindergarten this year. We have also added a memeber to our family and we bring her here too. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.

They took the time to listen to my son!. I took my son to Village Peds out in Southern Village when he was coughing for days, and they so very patient and thorough.. really listening to him and what he had to say.

I have since been back with appointments for my son, and am always very pleased with the time and attention they take.

We've definitely found right pediatrician for our family!
