Tips for Lime & Basil

#1 Restaurant. Like a few of the other reviewers I am of Vietnamese descent and I agree that Lime and Basil comes the closes to having delicious authentic Vietnamese food. I've tried the other Vietnamese restaurants in the triangle but the other places never satisfied me and left me feeling seedy and dirty.

Last time I was at L&B I came with a large group of other Vietnamese and Americans and we received fast service, the food came out promptly, and everything was done with a smile. We all had different dishes: the summer roll appetizers, the beef pho, the grilled dishes, the stir-fried dishes, and a curry dish and everyone was in love with their own dishes. If you're looking for a place that has great, healthy, no msg food, and great service Lime and Basil is the place for you. I've continued to frequent this restaurant and will continue to do so. No doubt this could be the best restaurant in Chapel Hill.

Ps. I've never had a problem with the staff and I've been there solo and with large groups.

Best pho in the triangle. I'm vietnamese and was raised with authentic vietnamese cuisine, and I thought the pho was amazing. Despite the numerous tables and few servers, I still receive great service and am always tended to. The music and decor all add to its great ambience and feel. I recommend going on the weekdays because it can get a bit on the crazy side on the weekends.

Authentic Pho. Pho was great considering ethnic food is not Chapel Hill's strongest point. Waitstaff are very friendly and quick to serve. Main problem is that the restaurant is VERY small and reservations are not allowed. Also, the restaurant should replace the cheap wooden chopsticks w/ plastic ones that are normally used in asian restaurants.

Food Ordered:

Spring rolls (fried): Good as expected.

Chicken Pho: Nicely seasoned soup that was very fresh tasting. Served w/ fresh bean sprouts, basil and lime.

Excellent Friendly Service, Good Food. My bosses wanted to take me to lunch and chose Lime and Basil because I had never been. It was terrific! I had read the reviews here prior to going and I cannot understand the service complaints. Our server was friendly, attentive and had a beautiful smile. The place was almost full and no one seemed left out or ignored. The food was great (I was the only one who had pho and I loved it) as was the bubble tea (next time I'm getting a coconut one!). I loved the decor but then I'm a huge fan of lime green, so I might be biased. Prices were right and the food was wonderful. I will go back again!

great food. I moved to the triangle from NY not too long ago and was worried about the choice of restaurants in the area...especially Vietnamese cuisine. A friend recommened Lime & Basil, and I am glad they did. The food is very good and you can't beat the value for your money. I've returned many times (after being too lazy to cook)...and I enjoy the pho, grilled dishes and the summer rolls very much. I wouldn't recommend going on the weekends, as it can get pretty crazy...I think a lot of this has to do w/ the size of the establishment (very small) So go at lunch or on a weeknight. The modern decor, small size and contemporary vietnamese music all add to the charm. I havent had problems w/ staff either.. so overall..a worthwhile experience

I have never been disrespected more in my life. Besides waiting forever until one of the wait staff notices you need to be seated, the service is incredibly slow. On top of that, the manager/store owner, or so he said, treated my dinner party with complete disrespect. He was incredibly rude and seemed blazingly angry. We tried our best to be polite and appease his contempt filled attitude, but he seemed to disregard customer service completely. I will never eat there ever again and I am letting all of my friends know about the kind of service we received. I suggest finding another Vietnamese restaurant in the triangle.

yummy pho. the only thing to eat here is the pho. a good indication of this is the descriptive placemats on what pho is. i've tried other things on the menu...they're ok, but don't compare to the fresh, flavourful soup. it's a good place to grab a bite to eat for lunch.

A must try!. Lime and Basil is a great choice!!!! The food is awesome and very authentic. Service has improved greatly since they opened. I never wait more than 15 minutes for a table and that is on a friday night. The chicken pho and house special fried rice are amazing!!! You must try this place.

I'm In Love. After visiting Vietnam, I've been on the search for a great Vietnamese restaurant to dine at and I believe I've found it, Lime and Basil! I must say this is the best Vietnamese Restaurant I've been to yet. It is extremely clean and the food is just amazing! My recommendations would be their salad rolls and their lemon grass grilled pork over vermicelli. They also have this great Vietnamese-French coffee. The decor was very appropriate and the restaurant itself was small but cozy. The service there was spectacular- they are very warm and welcoming, attentive.

Amazing -- See for yourself!. I went here for the first time with my best friend and her mom a few weeks ago. Depending on the time that you go, there may or may not be quick seating. The atmosphere is great, and the food is to die for! Check it out!
