disappointment. I was looking forward to an original experience at Fearrington Restaurant, but was greatly disappointed by the average food, bad service, and ridiculous prices. Visitors to the restaurant should be aware that the menu is prix-fixe and the variety within the categories leaves something to be desired. Although there are many waiters that are relatively attentive, most of them are snobby and created an intimidating and uncomfortable atmosphere. The food was good, but I have had much better food at more reasonable prices and in a more invinting atmosphere elsewhere in the Triangle area. Unless you are looking to pay a lot to have people turn their noses up at you, I would go somewhere else.

Forget Second Empire, This is the Place!. After 2 very disappointing outings to Second Empire (we only went the second time because we thought we've give them the benefit of the doubt), we decided to spend our next special occassion at The Fearrington House Restaurant and we were wowed. The setting is gorgeous, the food was exotic and extremely tasty, and the service was empeccable. Unlike a lot of fine restaurants, the staff was friendly and hospitable. We were impressed with every dish we had. We don't mind spending money when the meal and experience are worth it, and this place is definitely worth it!

Great Getaway. Well prepared, fresh food including sandwhiches and pastas served in a tranquil setting. The black bean salad, when available, is sensational. Eat it and you just feel clean and healthy. Dine inside or outside. It's worth the trip.

best lunch. there is a place in fearrington village other than the fearrington house, it is the fearrington market cafe. the food and atmoshpere is a delight. everone is so friendly and helpful the serve lunch all week and dinner a few nights and a great sunday brunch. the food is wonderfully balanced and pretty to the eye. If your looking for a great meal out try it.
