Carrboro >Akai Hana Japanese Restaurant
Date night regular. We go to this place so often that the sushi chefs know us. It's our standard date night restaurant, and we were so excited when they made the special, "White Star" sushi, a regular. Try the crunchy shrimp roll, if you're new to sushi (sooooo good)... but if you're a sushi-expert, try the exotic ones - you won't be disappointed. Easy going atmosphere.
if you are looking for good sushi this is the place!!. love the sushi at this place! it has always been fresh and tasty. they have a great menu with a wide variety of sushi. they have really good specials as well. if you are looking for great service and yummy food come here!
Great Sushi. When it comes to sushi these guys do it right. We've tried several other places around and no one even comes close to Akai Hana. Their rolls are always fresh and I've never tried one I didn't like. Definitely try the crispy shrimp roll, very tasty. Best of all the price is very reasonable, not to mention they have some killer specials. The best place in Chapel Hill to get sushi!!!
Great Sushi!. Akai Hana is a great little sushi place, close to franklin street but not right in the center of all the commotion. They've got great deals on certain nights, and the crunchy shrimp roll is fantastic!
Great deals on Wednesdays!. Akai Hana has a great variety of dishes, especially their soups, and has a lot more than just amazing sushi. It's definitely a wonderful deal for amazing food!
Best Sushi!. Akai Hana is always packed but always quick and delicious! The outside patio is cute, so it's a great place to eat outside!
Best sushi for miles around. Great sushi at a great price. Hurricane roll, anything with salmon is really good, gyoza are wonderful too!
great sushi close to campus. I love this place--this is probably the best sushi just a close distance from downtown Chapel Hill and UNC. Definitely get the crunchy shrimp roll.
Good Sushi at a Nice Restaurant. My girlfriend took me here last time I came up to UNC and the sushi is delicious. The atmosphere is such that even though it was rather crowded when we went, it still managed to be cozy. There are enough specials to keep it from denting your wallet too bad, but expensive enough to only be a special occasions thing. Overall, good enough to be worth the price with someone special.
A cute restaurant for all sorts of sushi lovers.
Akai Hana is my go to place a dinner with the out of town relative who's buying. Lots of local charm and the best sushi I've found in the area, at typical sushi prices.
But with lots of specials, it's easy to visit even on a student's budget by buying a roll and then filling up on cheap white rice and miso.
Plenty of non-sashimi options for the squeamish out there too. I took my sushi virgin mother here, and even she enjoyed herself.
Very intimate space, but also crowded at times. Beware of too few parking spaces.
