ANTS!?!?!. I was in the establishment today with a friend during lunch. We were eating chips and dip prior to receiving the food. All of a sudden we saw ants crawling on the table and seats. We moved to another table. The people sitting behind the "ANT" booth said they had the same problem and moved. We told the waiter, all he said was "Let me at them!" and was kind of joking. They wiped the table off for the next victim of which we caught as they were getting ready to sit down and told them the booth has ants so they moved too. Needless to say, if there are ants - makes you wonder what else is crawling around. We will never visit there again! The servers are not the greatness but the food is great! I highly recommend La Fiesta in Mebane. Yummy!
The Best Mexican Food I have experienced. This place is awesome. Good food, drinks employees, and atmospher. I reccommend this place to anyone who loves real mexican entrees.
BEST FAMILY RESTAURANT. This restaurant has the BEST MARGARITAS, me and my husband love EL RODEO they have like private rooms where is just you and your family so when my kids are noisy they dont bother other people, so we relax and drink our 1.99 margaritas about time we find a good mexican restaurant.
BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN CHAPEL HILL. This is the first mexican restaurant I truly liked, It has the best food, the best margaritas and THE BEST DRINK SPECIALS. I try some other mexican restaurants in the area and all of them are the same, very small and terrible service. This one is very clean and very nice decor. no wonder they have been here 20 years!
Insect City. I saw an insect right by my table and it disgusted me. Their margaritas are insanly overpriced and their food is fresh out of the microwave. Do yourself a favor and go to Los Potrillos, it is a much better place for mexican.
offended. Let me start by explaining I am a white american and my wife and child are mexican-american. For years we have been going to El Rodeo in Chapel Hill - even in its old location across the street. The past three experiences have been horrific for me. The food runner continually flirted with my wife and did so in front of me. Granted he was speaking spanish, but he did not know the first time that I am fluent in spanish. I finally had to stand up and explain to him that she's my wife. He had the audacity to approach at the end of the meal. I had to control all my emotions and explain how he disrespected me and my family. We told management we will never come back again. I guess I'll have to order to go if we feel like El Rodeo or maybe travel to Durham.
Sub-par margarita. Besides the fact that I was distracted by the excessive decor and uncomfortably high bar-stools, the margarita was not so red hot either. It was that awful sweet n sour mix with a tangy aftertaste. NOT the place to go if you are looking to just relax in the bar and have a good marg. I am SHOCKED that it is rated the #1 margarita in the triangle!
Free chips and salsa, cheese-swathed, south-of-the border combos and one heck of a margarita..
In Short
The restaurant has a large bar and plenty of booths. It's kid-friendly, birthday-party friendly and a great after-work hangout. There's also an enormous selection of American-friendly Mexican fare. Over 32 combo choices (for example, one taco, two enchiladas and rice) as well as the especialidades de la casa (such as carnitas). And if you never thought you'd veer from the beef burrito, you haven't seen the 15 vegetarian options at Rodeo.
R U kidding!!. The margaritas are good, but the best...no way!! A little on the tangy side and a bit pricy.
Worst in Chapel Hill. This is probably the worst Mexican restaurant in Chapel Hill. The enchilladas are runny, the chicken is undercooked and the salsa is like V8 juice.
