Big portions of mainstream American fare, served up in a convivial, family atmosphere..
A low-key, friendly environment attracts plenty of families to this reliable chain. Kids in the big booths--often clutching free balloons and crayons--usually outnumber adults sitting at the bar. The menu offers filling American fare with no surprises, from mozzarella sticks and nachos to rollups and burgers. Entrees include steaks, fajitas and main dish salads. The calorie-conscious can select from a list of Weight Watchers-inspired dishes like mesquite chicken salad and grilled tilapia with mango salsa.
Unprofessional staff... loud yelling and talking from kitchen.... slow service. Went to Applebee's on Friday night around 9pm for a quiet dinner. The restuarant was not crowded. We were sat in a booth close to the kitchen. Unfortunately my idea of a quiet dinner quickly changed because the kitchen staff was yelling and talking so loud that we could hear everyword. I even made a comment to our waiter that the staff in the kitchen needed to calm down. The manager was sitting at a table close by and could hear the yelling but did nothing to stop it. We left before our meal arrived and will not return. We have had problems with service in the past on several occasions but would return to give it another chance. But not this time.
Slow Service. Do not try to dine here on your lunch break. It was not crowded, yet I sat for 20 minutes and never saw a server. No one even bothered to bring me anything to drink. I had to leave the restaurant because I knew that if I ordered, I may not have a chance to enjoy my meal.
