YIKES !!!!!!. Stopped by last week for a little lunch. Had a Reuben that took for ever to get. after eating it wish I was still waiting . Person at the counter was half asleep and there was some guy running around yelling at everyone ( the owner I assume ) I feel for him, but its a very unpleasant atmosphere. the food in the case looks old and everything could use a good dusting ( wine bottles ).…
The end of an era. Disappointed. That's all I can say... but I'll say more! After returning to live in the Chapel Hill area, I anticipated my first meal at one of my old favs, Mariakakis. Sadly, selling imports and wine seems to be the draw for this former great eatery. I ordered a chicken on pita, hummus on the side. I must say, the portions were great... but the chicken was greasy, bland and not good. The hummus was served in a pint container with one cut up piece of pita. I looked forward to taking the rest home until I tasted it. I make much better at home... that goes for the hummus, chicken and eggplant parm my wife had. Sad to see such a staple go the way of the dinosaur... farewell old friend, give me a call and I'll share my recipe for crowd drawing hummus with you... for a price!…
