Good food & service. Love this place! They have a great variety of breakfast foods & all the plates have lots of options for sides. Prices are good, & now that they accept credit/debit cards, there's nothing to complain about! We've always had great attentive service. It's small, so you may have to wait occasionally, but I've never been disappointed.

won't visit this place again. Not friendly to families. If you come here with kids you'll get bewildered stares, and ultimately you'll not be able to sit together as family. We were treated as if we were a bother on a day that wasn't even busy.

Overrated? Please.. I think the "overrated" reviewer must be stuck in a time warp, because places like this barely exist anymore in the advent of chains. If you think it's overpriced, you must eat beans out of a can under a bridge for breakfast - given that I'm originally from Boston, this is dirt cheap by comparison, and easily 10x better than anything I had in that area.

OVERRATED - Popular does not indicate good.. I went to this establishment because of what I heard on the street. This place thrives on word of mouth, which I would consider "rumors" or "myths" from people who have heard it from others and never actually eaten at this establishment.

Food was over priced and dried. I do not recommend to anyone unless they asked about this place. All I remembered food was terrible and over priced.

I would never go there again with their flavorless food, small portions, and slow service. I guess it's a hip place to go, but hip doesn't usually mean good. Give me big portions, cheaper food.

Fabulous breakfast food, personable staff, great prices. Ye Olde is one of the first places I take friends and family who come to visit in Chapel Hill. It has a ton of character (always decorated at holidays, employees in impressive costumes at halloween) and unbeatable food and prices. The line can be intimidating, but I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes, even on weekends. I especially recommend the Apple Cinnamon Waffles. Don't forget that it's cash only, but if you are stuck, there's three ATMs within the same block.

Best breakfast in Chapel Hill. This place rocks. Best basic breakfast in town.

That said, it could be better in a few ways. The hashbrowns are frozen shredded type, not fresh. The fruit used for waffles and pancakes are canned or frozen. Pepsi, no Coke.

The place is 100% consistant, friendly, and good. I wish a few tweaks would be made to make it excellent, such as Merritts bacon, and the things mentioned already.

I have a few places throughout the country I love, and wish this place was as good. BUT, it's the best in town, period!

Crowded but good. Love this waffle shop! Never have purchased the waffles, but it's a great breakfast joint. The price is good, the atmosphere is just what you'd want. Feels like a grand ol' ma-and-pa joint. Limited seating.

Great College Campus Diner. My wife and I retired in Chapel Hill and we eat heat at this diner frequently. We eat breakfast out nearly every day, so we have a lot to compare it to. Bacon and eggs are excellent, so are the waffles and pancakes. I've seen lines outside on the sidewalk on weekends, but there's always a seat during the week. It's one of my favorite diners anywhere. If you're looking for a good, fast, inexpensive meal with a college campus atmosphere, you'll enjoy Ye Olde. As for the reviewer who got bad service, it happens-- I've paid $200 for dinner in other cities and gotten poor service. It hasn't happend to me at YOWH, but it might someday.

One of Chapel Hill's top destinations for breakfast.. In Short
Late-risers and slackers can go their entire lives in Chapel Hill and never see Ye Olde Waffle House open; they are closed most days by 2pm, denying many the chance at eggs and pancakes on call. They have arguably one of the best locations in Chapel Hill--service is quick and personable, and prices aren't bad either.

DISSAPOINTED. We chose this place because it had a good rating and nice reviews. BUT... it was terrible. We were a party of 8 people. When we ordered, it took them more than 40 minutes to bring us our food and the quality was definitely below the average (waffles were not crispy, in pecan waffles there was no sign of pecans, omelets were so-so and everything was hardly warm). The waiter was slow and sometimes didn't pay attention to our table. This is certainly NOT the place we are going to come back.
