Its not open!. This resturant is not there! I went to the location and found another resturant and I was happy with what they had and wrote a review. They need to take this sight down becasue it's confusing enough to find the location.

True Italian style Pizza here. I am unsure who the bad reviews are coming from but I am pretty sure they are not Italian's. I was recommended to this place from a friend who moved there from the Bronx. I am also 1st generation Italian from the Bronx. This pizza is as close as you are going to get to Bronx pizza and that is a high compliment for pizza places in the Triangle. I am unsure what people expect when they say they are dissappointed, but if you eat Domino's or other chain pizza places, you can not compare this authentic style Italian pizza to that cheap quality, junk ingredient stuff.

Fair. $20 minimum for a bottle of wine at a neighborhood place is too much. The 501 diner, across the shopping center, has decent wine in the $14 range. The house wine is more reasonable -- but they sometimes run out.

We like the lasagna, and think this is the best Italian place in the immediate vicinity, but it's the only Italian place in the immediate vicinity. Pulcinella in Durham is too far for us.

Overpriced and bland. Overpriced and bland. If I'm going to spend that much money for dinner, I'll gladly go somewhere else.

Overpriced ordinary pizza. The pizza here is very average and way over priced. Stay away from the sicilian pizza: Tomato sauce with 3 slices of pepperoni on over-toasted bread that is hard as brick. I cannot imagine we paied $2-3 a slice. Surely there is better pizza around.....

Avoid Sal's. I have been to Sal's and seen the owners belittle their wait staff in front of customers. I have also been there on delivery days and seen the Progresso cans of Minestrone they've bought from the grocery store (which they serve up as their own at $5/bowl!) Their cleanliness level the last time I was there was in the 80's.

Personally, I'd rather eat at a clean establishment that doesn't deceive their customers and treats their staff well.

Authentic Italian Food Straight From Italy!!!. Sal's is one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved down here from NH... I had a friend whose grandmother straight from the old country would cook for us all the time... Sal's reminds me of these delicous meals that I had as a child, at my friends house, which brings back happy memories for me...

Everything is made from scratch, from the spaghetti sauce to the pizzas, and it shows in the end result... Tasty, delicous, and made with love...

If you have never tried this place, tucked in the corner of the mall, try it sometime... It will bring you to a place in Italy, where you have never been, and wish you were!

A real slice of New York in the heart of Carolina.. In Short
An upscale-casual cafeteria made old-world legit with colorful murals and faux stone walls. Sal's peddles pizza NYC style as big, floppy rounds heavy with cheese are topped with all the traditional toppings--pepperoni, sausage, anchovies and the pineapple and ham combo. Sal's also packs a few surprise punches: Try the white cheese pie--pizza under a mantle of ricotta mixed with a little milk. There's also marinara, meatballs, manicotti, pasta ad parmigiana.

Better than NY. As a New Yorker who lived in Chapel Hill 25 years ago, Iwas surprisingly pleased to find Sal's. Now, as a Connecticut resident who retruns to Chapel Hill every 6 months, I'm shocked to find that as the Pizza quality in NY has declined over the years, the best NY Pizza you can find is in Chapel Hill NC!! We never miss Sal's during our visits and often squeeze in two trips. It truly is the best NY Pizza around.

Simply great!. We got to go out and eat here this evening and the food was simply amazing. We would much rather eat from here than any other pizza place. AAA+ food!
