Loved it

I lived here for two years and loved it. I would stay but I got a job offer in another area. I wasn't even going to write a review until I was searching for a new place and came across Alta Springs reviews. These people are crazy! I have a lot of friends that have lived here and we all loved it.

The only people writing reviews on here probably just didn't get their way with something or didn't pay their rent!

The pool is the best in Chapel Hill and everyone uses the fitness center. The people in the office remember your name and really care. They even helped me find someone to take over my lease when I had to leave early for a new job.

The only downside is that they don't have the "newer" things like a movie theater or basketball court.

• Cons: no movie theater

These people should be put in jail!!

My entire stay was a nightmare, but when I left, it got even worse. When I was finally moving out, the maintenance person broke a pipe in my apartment trying to move out the washer and dryer. She quickly turned off the water and I left town. When I came back the next day to get another load, I found that the water had not been turned all the way off and the apartment was completely flooded. All of our things were ruined but they refused to pay for any of it. My friends that had stayed in Alta Springs had warned me that I would be charged enormous maintenance fees after I left, so before I left, I made them inspect the apartment and put something in writing confirming that I would get back my full deposit. I also made them put in writing that the flood was caused by them, so I would not be charged for the extensive water damage. Sure enough, about a month later, I got a bill in the mail for thousands of dollars for the water damage. The letter was sent by the same person that wrote and signed the document which stated that I would not be charged. I called her out on it and she lied right to my face claiming that she didn't right the letter. When I produced the righting, she agreed to drop the additional charges but still refused to refund my deposit. Although I could have easily won in court, I had started a new job and was living in another state so it wasn?t worth it. Alta Springs know that most of their tenants are students and don't have time or money. They will take advantage of you every way possible. I've never seen a staff that was more unethical in my life.

Awful Customer Service

The customer service at Alta is severly lacking. They go out of their way to make things harder for you rather than easier. The ladies up front don't care about customer service and if something happens IT IS YOUR FAULT...RENTER BEWARE!
