Wedding Dress Held Hostage!.
My fiance went into Carolina Cleaners about two weeks before our wedding with a $200 wedding dress, just needing it steamed. The employee was clueless as to how much it would cost her, and gave her a list of prices, of which $20 was the most the charged for any clothing item. They told her they would have a specialists look at and call her with the price before they processed it.
A week and half later, after no contact from them, she went in to find out that they had already cleaned it?and was charging her $140 since it was a wedding dress!!!
Well, the employee working there couldn?t do anything about it, but told her to call Charlie Nelson, the owner. A day later, after about an hour on the phone with various incompetent, impotent, or ignorant employees, she talked to him personally.
At first he seemed helpful, but since the employee that originally took the dress had quit in the meantime, there was ?no proof? of what actually happened, and the best he could do was only charge her $80, which was still incredibly ridiculous.
When she tried to explain that was not acceptable business practices, he simply told her that he wasn?t going to argue with her and hung up on her! I do not know how this place stays in business! Unethical practice, THE WORST customer service ever, a rude, unprofessional owner that refuses to take responsibility for anything, uninformed employees (most likely not their fault)?the list goes on. DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR CLOTHES TO CAROLINA CLEANERS.
We had no choice but to pay the $80 because the wedding was only a day away. They literally held my bride?s wedding dress hostage. The worst part is that this shoddy ?business? took a simple task of running a steamer over an inexpensive dress and turned it into one of the most stressful situations for an imminent bride.
Carolina Cleaners needs to be put out of business. Charlie Nelson does not deserve to be running a business. Giving it zero stars would be too generous.
Fraudulent service, lack of service and horrendous customer service.
On the morning of Oct 22nd, I dropped off 5 shirts, a pair of trousers and a suit for same day dry cleaning and ironing. After collecting the garments at 6:15 PM, I noted that they had not been cleaned nor pressed. The shirts were crumpled and creased and had clearly not been ironed. I returned to the store at 7:30 PM and when I brought this to the notice of Tim (an employee), he refused to acknowledge the lack of ironing and did not honor a refund. When I
pointed out that the clothes looked worse that when they were dropped off, he just gave me the manager's name and phone #. The employee was extremely rude and disinterested in resolving the issue. When contacted, the manager sent me an email filled with hostility, character defamation and a complete distortion of the facts of the event. Please avoid this establishment...they will cheat you
Deceptive Business Practices. I was a first time customer at Carolina Cleaners at Timberlyne and took in over 12 items for laundry. When I went to pick them up I was shocked to have been charged close to $6/item! This is close to 3x the price of usual dry cleaners I go to. When I called the management, no apology was offered, rather I was just told they are the best and therefore charge more. I acknowledge fault in not asking the price but I also feel that the clerk should have informed me of the price difference and given me a choice (apparently all hand pressed items cost this much while machiene pressed are much less around 2.50). User beware!!
