ethical, respectful, health-conscious dental care

I am shocked by the previous reviewer’s comments. How illogical (and irresponsible) to state that because other people had a good experience when you didn't, they "have to be" family members. How could the reviewer possibly "know" that Dr. Willock were "incompetent" at restorative and cosmetic work? After one single visit for a teeth-cleaning?! If the reviewer were so concerned about the bill, then he or she might have spoken up when it was presented. How unfair to try to punish this business out of the reviewer’s own embarrassment over acting like a coward. It could be a simple misunderstanding, but you’ll never know if you don’t speak up. Shame on you!

Here is my experience: I have been to Dr. Willock twice. I’ve had a crown and several fillings done. This is hands-down the best dental practice I’ve ever visited. I chose him because he does mercury-free work. He really cares about human health and wellbeing, and attends conferences each year to stay well educated. He made a big decision years ago to follow his conscience and go with the healthy materials, even though 98% of the other dentists out there are still telling you that mercury amalgam fillings and crown buildups are just fine (they’re not, they’re poisonous, and they tend to crack and leach over time). Dr. Willock will use the healthiest technology and materials that ARE AVAILABLE NOW. If you want to cheap out on your mouth and believe what they tell you about the mercury, then I suppose this may not be the place for you. Having said that, I will say that the cost of my crown was no more than at other practices; I called around before going in.

I will also say that they encourage you to think down the road and may suggest treatments that they believe are better, even though they are more expensive, but if you choose the cheaper treatment, it is also available for you. Personally I did choose to pay more for a SEREC filling on one tooth because it was a big, deep filling and I didn’t want to have any more trouble with it. Bottom line, I got the information I needed and I have not been pressured in my choices.

I haven’t even mentioned some of the things I like best about this dental practice: They will take the time to talk with you about your mouth. They obviously have thought carefully about how to create a pleasant atmosphere for you and it’s more than just the art on the wall. The chair-side manner of both dentist and his most excellent technician are, simply put, AWESOME. There are DVD screens with nature movies playing on both the wall and ceiling of the treatment room so you always have something relaxing to focus on. They check on you often. They speak to you nicely. I have never felt more respected as a patient at a dental office.

I suppose not everyone values the same things, but if you like ethical, highly respectful health practitioners and making smart investments in your long-term health, I think Dr. Willock’s office is a great choice.

Push for high dollar work w/o the skill

The reviews listed here have to be family members, since they contradict my experience on the one visit I made to the office. The hygienist double charged me for a cleaning that I had est. a price for with the staff before I sched. This place is driven by max dollars without the requisite skill. He may be ok for routine work, I do know that he is pushing high priced restorative, cosmetic work for which he is incompetent.

Great Dentist with outstanding office

Wonderful experience every time

You get what you pay for and more with this wonderful dental office. Dr. Willock is a wonderfully skilled dentist who performs top notch work with state of the art instruments. His hygienist is more like a therapist - so pleasant, so caring, and so good at her job. It is a relaxed and easygoing atmosphere. I know a pay a tiny bit more for this dentist, and as a married grad student every penny counts, but teeth are for life and this guy - he will take care of your teeth!
