Slumlords RUINED that place... And it was the BEST dance club in Chapel Hill!. I have heard all the bicthing from the losers that used to go there...get a life..your time expired, you guys ran that place into the ground. the new owners bought it and made it a gay friendly, everyone welcome dance club..which rocked and did amazing things for the community...I have been there with water flooding in thru the walls, sewage leaks from the club upstairs I was there when the slumlord landlord was making excuses for the flooding, which is his problem...clearly if you READ the files on hells website from the city, you can see they, the city, shut it down. I dont buy the rent dispute for a minute, as hell was almost always packed on the weekends and seemed to make plenty of money. I for one will NEVER step foot in that building or any business located within it...its clearly dangerous and the slumlords that own it need to clean up their act. They tried to rip off their tenant and almost got away with it. When hell reopens in the new space, I will be there, with my friends in tow!

The Chapelhell closting story is a load of dung!!. Since they do not have anywhere to post on their actual site I will have to post here. Hell is closed!! Not due to the building being condemed, which it is not, the other two business seem to be open still. Rather hell is closing due to a crappy owner who took something that was great in Chapel Hill for over 10 years and messed it up. The owner did not pay his bills including beer distributors and the landlord. Not paying rent causes a landlord to getupset, trying to have the landlord arrested for trespasing while trying to collect such rent gets you evicted. That is the real story. The town of Chapel Hill did not come out of nowhere and inspect the bar, they were called. Called by a cry baby owner who in a last ditch effort was trying to get back at the landlord, when 90% of their list of repairs is responsible to the owner not the landlord. Nice move!! Well at least the owner of Hell can claim a new record in town. THE SHORTEST LIVED RUNNING OF A BAR IN TOWN. (Under six months)

Hell Bar a must go...... Great place. Tons of bottle beer and all the drinks you could think of. Free pool, great Dj's and reasonably priced drink, low cover. Great for any night of the week.

Worst bar in the area. I cannot say enough bad things about this place. They seem to try to bill themselves as "part of the community," but it's just part of their marketing. The staff is lazy and doesn't even make an attempt at being polite, and there seems to be a tendency by them to aggressively post advertising on free message boards on the internet, even if those message boards have a clear and obvious no-spam policy. Keep away, you'll be glad that you did.

Rude Bartender. After just moving to the area, I was excited to try out the new bars. We tries Hell after it was recommended y Citysearch, and it turned out a bad experience. The cover was $2, no big deal, but nobody was there, and it was boring. One of the bartenders was very rude and ended up ruining our time.

Only here is HELL a good place!. Hell is the greatest hole in the wall basement bar. It is a members only club where non members must be on the guest list (still not sure how we managed to make the list). The drinks are very reasonably priced and service is great. If you have to use the restroom, I would suggest you go upstairs to another establishment. Coming from a near 40 year old Hoosier, this place is fantastic and I will go back every visit to Chapel Hill.

The Comforts of Hell. This bar was my local before I transplanted myself in NYC. Simply put, this is a unpretentious no-nonsense kind of bar where people go to drink with their friends (and not necessarily make new ones, which can a plus). The jukebox, pool tables (do not put drinks on the tables. period.) and old school video games (for a quarter!) are sideshows to the main attraction: socializing with your friends at the bar. Try the Esme; it's a drink named for the owner's daughter.

Damned to drink: Chapel Hill's nether bar serves spirits in a lively underworld.. In Short
Crimson walls, red pool tables and gory furniture accented with rubber rats and skeletons set the scene. Tetris, Time Pilot and air hockey are the stalagmites in this hole. The bar boasts a damned-fun drink list, including sips called Crime & Punishment and The Devil's Elbow. Unlike the real deal, Chapel Hill's Hell is tough to get into--you don't have to be a murderer--but you must become a member.

This is a place. Good place and a good jukebox, but the problem with that place is that everyone there looks like they need to go out into the sun once in a while.

Send your In-Laws to Hell!. This is the type of dive that I have been searching for since a place called the "Grog Shop" in East Cleveland.... I loved that bar and I moved to Seattle and found something close, but when I moved to Durham I thought I had hit a Sports Bar Car wreck.... Luckily I have found "Hell" and now I have a place to take my Father-In-Law when he is in town!
