Tips for Caribou Coffee

worst coffee shop in town. Caribou Coffee at 110 W Franklin street is by far the WORST coffee shop i have ever been to in my life. i have a list of reasons why,

1, this location has changed management personnel several times. and every time the place has gotten WORSE!

2. the staff consists of rude college kids who care nothing about the costumer and hardly ever get the order right.

3. i understand that any coffee shop has hectic times and rush hour. but even when this place is not busy it still takes 10 to 15 minuets to get a PLAIN coffee YES PLAIN NOTHING FANCY just a cup of black coffee. because the staff is busy in the back chatting it up or doing whatever it is that they do in the back.

4. the outside seating is a JOKE!!! during the summer time HUGE COCKROACHES crawl all over the patio on the tables and on the brick wall that the walk way. GROSS! and they never spray for them.

also you can't sit out on the patio and enjoy a cup of coffee with out CRACK HEADS bothering you for spare change.

5. the patio is always filled up with other peoples left behind thrash on the tables and on the ground! might explain all the HUGE COCKAROACHES and the staff never bothers to keep the place clean.

on top of everything the coffee is OVER 2 BUCKS for a regular and it's not even that good. i would recomend any other coffee shop in town or even just stay home and make your own. ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN THIS PLACE!

It's a great place to go and hang out, and meet with friends in the warm atmosphere."

I'm not sure what "the original Caribou coffee" is supposed to mean here. The original Caribou Coffee location is in Minnesota. If the phrase was meant to imply that the Chapel Hill Caribou Coffee location is a local small business, that's not the case. Caribou is the second-largest specialty coffee chain in the U.S. (after Starbucks).

Additionally, I'm not sure how "'Caribou' coffee should explain things enough for you." Their name certainly conveys the fact that they serve coffee, but that's about it.

I should say that I love this Caribou location and their staff. It was my second home for three years of grad school. They have a wide variety of delicious drinks (cold and hot) and the staff, even with turnover, is always very friendly (but they never ask if you want skim - remember to tell them if that's your preference).

HOWEVER, the reviewer above mentions its "warm atmosphere" - this is not the case in the literal sense. They keep the A/C on all year, and it's always FREEZING inside, so bring a coat.

Canadian Caribou !. I was a resident of the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area for over two years, after being head-hunted down from Canada during the hi-tech boom (1998-2001). A client site was across the street from the Caribou, and I was in there daily for about 4 months straight. They had the tastiest specialty coffee's around, and very pleasant student servers. The ambience was a little run down (UNC student owners), but it was a popular place to kick back for awhile...Hello to all at InfoHandler !

Amazing. There is no better coffee than Caribou. It never tastes burned like Starbucks and Port City Java. I definitely reccomend the dark roast with a little cream. You won't be sorry!!!!
