Survivng on past reputation. The place used be good. The prices have doubled and the food is terrible. My plate of country ham was more like burnt Canadian bacon. The little dish of french fries would not feed a third grader. They are survivng on past reputation. Skip it. For 12 bux you can eat lunch at Kanki.

Great as always. I have been here many times and it's always great!

The pies are wonderful as are the ribs!

A must try for anyone who has not had the pleasure.

Disappointing. In the past we have been fans of Mama Dips. We had dinner there last night and what a waste of time and money. The food was not good and the cost was too high. On top of that, the service wasn't good. What a disappointment to see this place go down hill. We won't be back.

Comfort Food Heaven!. Mama Dip's is not fancy but it sure is good. I love the chicken fried steak platter and it always hits the spot. The servers are kind and easy going. Dips is what it is, and I am a forever fan.

Love Mama Dips! Some improvements necessary :). I have been to Mama Dips for the past two mother's day. The first, I brought my mother and the second I brought my mother and father in-law. My mother, which is great southern cook herself, thought that the meal was ok. My Mother-in-Law thought the meal was great and we saw Mama Dip on that visit. My view is that the food is Southern and with Southern food its like a snow flake always different. So if you are use to Southern Food then you might like it you might think its just ok, but either way the food is good. If your use to contemporary resturants then this isn't the place. Very Southern styled and sometimes that is perfect! I enjoyed both times that I came. I'm hoping that someone at Mama Dips start seeking improvement advise from the customers. The place is to special to let some little annoyances drive people away

Such a disappointment. Since I moved to NC I have heard of Mama Dip's. Six years later, my husband and I ate there today and I can say for sure we will not make the trip from Cary to Chapel Hill again for this restaurant. The hostess and waitress were almost rude in their lack of attention. I ordered a diet soda. The restaurant was clearly out of syrup and was serving soda from 2 liter bottles without telling customers. The soda was completely flat! I took only one sip and then left the glass untouched! We ordered breakfast; sausage had no flavor; fried chicken was dry even though covered with brown gravy which tasted like flour. My eggs were not cooked as ordered, and I actually asked for one egg and received two cooked incorrectly - technically overcharged based on what I actually ordered. The biscuits tasted like they were either from frozen or out of a tube. Not one employee asked us if everything was okay until it was time to hand us the check. I might have complained if I thought I might come back, but this was one of the most disappointing meals ever so I didn't bother.

Maybe it was a bad day, but those in charge of the restaurant should make sure the employees are trained in customer service.

Very dissatisfied. I really hate to bust your bubbles but I alone with 6 of my co workers went to Mama Dips a couple of weeks ago and I was appalled at the service. The attitudes of the waitress as well as the young lady who I understand is her daughter was unbelievable. I was a little concerned about how I was charged ($9.95 for two drumsticks and two sides) and I was told by the cashier (daughter of owner) and I quote "WELL WE HAVE PEOPLE COME IN HERE AND PAY MORE THAN THAT" I could not believe that she said that. What have we become when we do not care how we treat people because we can get someone else to pay us more?????????? I am totally discouraged from ever visitng this place again!!!!As a young high school student I freguented this place long before they became soooo FAMOUS!! Can you imagine being the only african american with 5 of your white co workers(who might I remind you loved this place and we went @ twice a month from Durham)and being treated like your money does not matter??? The people on this bolg who "LOVES: this place either can NOT cook or have not been introduced to REAL homecooking???? (SAD)

Very poor service, food very average to bad, hospitality non existent, cost way to HIGH.. Went there for lunch.

For all of the positive press you would think they would get something right.

I would rather not eat than to go back there.

Would not go back for any reason, anytime, no how.

How they stay in business is beyond me.

Not so great as I had thought.... I grew up in this area but had never been to Mama Dips. Lately I've been trying to visit restaurants in this area that I've never been. I had read a review of Mama Dips here, and was disapointed, thinking that person's experience must have been an isolated incident- we are in the South and surely this place was better than that!

My husband, 6 year old daughter and my best friend went on a Saturday for lunch. Our waitress had no personality and never smiled the entire time, in fact she acted as if we were bothering her to be there..

I was also surprised at the prices right away- I didn't think they would be so pricey- just for lunch. My husband was out of his mind and paid $11 for a chopped BBQ plate. I got the chicken and dumplins and it was kind of runny and I think I like CB better. My daughter's meal was a waffle and it was ok- but we paid $2 extra for a drink for her- and the kids meal was $5- so $7 just for a 6 year old... is kind of a lot for a lunch. My husband's black eyed peas were a little overdone with no flavor. The okra was good but not anything special.

All in all I was also disapointed. I think this seems to be a restaurant where people go thinking it would be better- and then are surprised, that they too, think it was just ok. We ended up paying about $35 for lunch and I normally wouldn't have paid that much, just for a mediocre lunch. Well, at least I can cross this place off my list.
