Great Help for an Unusual Request. My precious 2-yr old son knocked my laptop onto the floor and the headphone jack that was plugged in snapped off IN the computer. The solution from the computer repair places that I looked into (3 of them) was to replace the circuit board at a cost north of $100.

Two other jewelers were unable to remove the plug, but when I took it to Grimballs they smiled and were interested in the challenge. Kathie Van Atta took the computer to the back and a few minutes later she emerged with my computer in great shape and the tic-tac sized little nub safely removed.

If I wasn't a poverty stricken student I would have bought something right there because I was so grateful. These guys happily went way out of their way to help me out and didn't even charge me for their work. I know it didn't take them much time, but this level of service won a customer for life (I have since been back to buy something).

These guys will really take care of you!

My Kind of Businessman!. Why do we take our business to Berkeley, simple! I needed my class ring re-sized and took it to him. Instead of taking the job and charging me $150, he told me I had a lifetime warranty that included re-sizing. Mailed it to Jostens yesterday! If I hadn't bought it 43 years ago, I might have remembered that warranty. :-)

Long History of Excellent work, and service. I've worked with these folks since the 1980's when they were down on West Franklin St. They have always tried to provide excellent service, and first quality jewelry. They've got a lovely assortment of both custom and estate jewelry, and a terrific repair and fabrication staff. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to my closest friends!

Great Selection. Bought my engagement ring from Grimballs. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Staff sent me high quality pictures of the ring choices and returned phone calls in a timely fashion.

Things I did not like: Would have wanted a certificate and documentation that the diamonds in the ring were not conflict diamonds. The prices are a little more than other jewelry stores (i.e. Kay's, Zales, etc.)

Overall I would recommend doing business with this store.

Great service. Unique jewelry. Much to my husband's chagrin, I am a jewelry lover. I frequent jewelry stores in every new city I visit and often browse jewelry designers online.

Grimball's unique jewelry speaks for itself. You will not see yourself around town or any in other city. They carry one of a kind pieces that are absolutely beautiful.

The friendly staff make you feel right at home. I finally found people who like jewelry as much as I do. Stop by and ask for Regina. You won't regret it!!!!

consistently excellent quality and service. I have been going to Grimball Jewelers for at least a few years+ now, and have always found the selection both interesting and lovely. Whether I am looking for a modern piece, or estate piece, I am always impressed with the selection and fine quality of the jewelry. I have also always had consistently excellent customer service, whether I am searching for a piece for myself or as a gift. It continues to be one of my favorite jewelry stores hands down! I would highly recommend Grimball Jewelers for both the excellent personalized and helpful customer service, as well as the fine quality of their jewelry.

Wonderful service, beautiful product. My fiancee and I custom-made my engagement ring at Grimball and we had a fantastic experience. Regina could not have been nicer in working with us, especially considering the several visits that myself, my mother and my fiancee made to the store. She helped us create a beautiful, unique ring that incorporated a family stone while also fitting into our price range. She kept us updated throughout the process and special-ordered stones to be the perfect fit and match for what we were looking for. When one stone had been measured (at a different store) as an incorrect size, she kindly had the stone properly sized for us and took the extra time and care to ensure that the matching stone would be flawless.

We loved working with her/Grimball and, though we don't live in Chapel Hill, would happily work with her again. We definitely recommend Grimball as a wonderful experience!

Thrilled with my experience at Grimball Jewelers. I bought my wife's engagement ring and both of our wedding bands--they had an amazing selection, friendly staff, and great follow-through and communication. After the wedding, I found that my own wedding band was a little too tight, and they arranged for a free replacement with the maker to get a ring a half-size bigger--at no cost to me. Good luck getting that kind of service at a mall shop!

Echoing another review below, I'm also shocked to see a negative review for Grimball Jewlers. In my experience, their service and pricing was fantastic. I was so happy with my experience that I referred my best man to them, and he just got his engagement ring and bands there as well.

Beautiful selection and excellent customer service. My husband and I went to Grimballs to purchase my wedding ring. The sales person was very helpful and showed us a selection of rings within our price range. We decided on a beautiful designer ring that had to be ordered and altered slightly to use one of my stones. When I explained that I had to have the ring by a certain date because of a trip to Europe she made every effort with the designer to ensure that it would be ready.

The customer service could not have been more pleasant. The ring arrived a week earlier than I expected and it is beautiful.

Also, during this time I had two rings altered at the store. The in store jewelers did an excellent job with both. The rings were ready in a week and more then met my expectations.

If anyone asks me to recommend a jeweler in Chapel Hill I would not hesitate to send them to Grimballs.

Grimball Jewelers Rocks!. After receiving great customer service at Grimball Jewelers, I decided to come to Citysearch to give some positive props. Imagine my surprise to find a few less than flattering reviews.

I can only speak from my experience (of course), but the view from here is that everybody affiliated with the store was both professional and personal.

My fiance and I went to Grimball Jewelers with a picture of a ring that we liked. Unlike other jewelers we had already visited, they were able to identify the style and history of the ring and produced a close replica of what we were seeking. They worked with us to set a special diamond from our family and the results were absolutely stunning.

To say they went the extra mile for us would be an understatement.

I would recommend Grimball Jewelers to all my friends (and to you, humble reader - lol).

Methinks other Citysearch reviewers of this business swallowed some sour grapes somewhere (lol).

Our experience was, has been, and is - very positive.

If you want to know which review to believe, believe this one!
