I can't say enough good things about Affordable Animal Care. I live in Cary so it's a bit of a hike for me, but it's very much worth it. The first time I met Dr. Hannah Parker, I liked her immediately. She's friendly and competent. My husband and I have had a lot of money going out (medical bills, other expenses) so when our cat needed a chest X-ray, Affordable Animal Care was an obvious first choice. We had gone to them in the past for other big-ticket procedures (like teeth cleaning for one of our dogs and a different cat) but had not been using them as our primary vet due to the distance. I went in today for the cat's follow-up visit along with our dog for his physical and heartworm test. I walked out of there with a $59 bill. The same services I received at Affordable Animal Care would have cost me AT LEAST $173 at our normal vet (Chatham Animal Hospital). This is in no way an exaggeration. We got estimates from Chatham before we had these procedures done at Affordable Animal Care for comparison. Please give them a try. Dr. Parker is very good, and very reasonable. You can tell she's in it because she wants to help animals and people. The techs have always been friendly. Profit is not the primary concern of AAC, caring for animals and keeping prices affordable is. They will be our primary vet from now on.
First let me start by thanking Hannah Parker and affordable animal care for providing veterinary service at a price regular people can handle in a time when vet clinics seem to be squeezing every cent out of pet owners who care about their animals. We came from a vet who charged $300 to spay our cat, and hundreds more for emergency visits due to infection from the surgery. This former vet also charged nearly $200 for basic shots due to the huge fees for examination and other useless services. When our dog had a growth on its head and they gave us an estimate of $1300 for removal it was the final straw. I found affordable animal care and gave it a shot. The vet who no longer works there not only saved our cats life removing the previous vets infection, but also removed the dogs growth for $300. No they don't have a beautiful building in the nicest area and their fax machine and scale may not work quite right, but having a vet in our community who isn't out to make a fortune off the love you have for your pets is priceless. 2 shots for the cat and an examination for our dog that revealed a tumor in her mouth-- $62. That would have cost hundreds at most vets. You really think I'm going to whine about a $3 debit card fee? And anybody dumb enough to cry about $72 for 2 shots for 2 dogs should go to any of the other high priced vets in our area and compare before they right a review showing their idiocy by actually admitting they thought their dogs were getting their shots for $4. Thank you affordable animal care for what you do in an area where clearly you are not appreciated
Deceived by Hannah Parker and her staff!!! If your dogs have records there, beware of getting scammed on a phone call!!! Affordable, anything but!!! I got a call this morning saying 2 of my dogs were due rabies and parvo shots. When I asked how much they were, I was told 2 dollars. I said "For both dogs?" They said "$2 per dog, but yes $2." Thinking "That's very un-Vet-like, but ok..." I took the dogs down and got the shots. They took me in quickly, (no mention of price which for anything else, they want paid up front before service is delivered), gave the shots and on check out said,"That will be $72." "What?!?" I said, "You just called and said that it was 2 per dog..." "Oh, that's the medical waste fee." YES I should have known better!!! To make matters, worse, they only take cash! Yes they have an ATM, charging you $3 for debit transactions and $5 for credit card transactions to scam a little more out of my pocket. Merry Christmas Hannah Parker & Staff, but rest assured, I'll never go back!!! So beware, they have deceptive practices. Also re: medications from another poster, they used to match PetMeds, but I was told "They don't do that no more" so what ever they feel like charging that day to add to the bottom line, that's what they charge.
Horrible Vet!.
UPDATE ALERT: If you don't believe the bad reviews here, check them out on the Better Business Bureau!!! They now have a "D" rating!! That should tell you something!!
This practice attracts you in with what APPEARS to be "low" prices. Afterwards they tell you need all kinds of expensive services you really don't need! They kept me waiting forever. I only got to see the vet a very short period of time and she barely even looked at my dog! She incorrectly diagnosed what was wrong with my dog! I know this because I changed vets after my horrible experience there and found out they had given me a lot of incorrect information! I would have been spending hundreds of $$$ on things my dog did not need to treat things he did not have had I listened to them!! Recently I read some complaints on the Better Business Bureau that completely matched my experience there, so evidently they treat all their customers the same - awful! After my horrible experience, I changed vets and found out much of the information I had received at this place was incorrect! I would NEVER go there again, nor recommend it to anyone if you care about your pet!!!
unpleasant receptionist. I used to go to other animal care facility , I'm used to the personnel's pleasant and welcoming attitude, but since they are expensive I decided to transfer my dog's care to Affordable Animal Care in Durham. I am impressed with the really affordable fees of their services, but the ladies at the reception area specially the short one with eyeglasses is CHEAP as well. They, -most specially HER need to take customer service training. I am writing this review to inform the owner of this facility so they can retrain their personnel on proper BUSINESS ETHICS . I will give credit to the personnel who are actually handling the care of the pets, they are pleasant, compassionate and professional.
Wonderful care at reasonable prices.
I have 2 new puppies and on the recommendation of a friend took them to Affordable Animal Care. Our experience their has been wonderful. They both had their puppy shots and last week were both neutered. I will continue to use AAC for all of our vet services.
The facility is very clean and all the staff have been knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Thank you AAC
for a great experience!
