What People Are Saying About El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant

In Short – A corporate fern bar located in the renovated, cobble-stoned Brightleaf Square--the highlight of downtown Durham. Enormous selection of American-friendly Mexican fare. More than 32 combo choices (such as one taco, two enchiladas and rice: $6) as well as the especialidades de la casa. And if you never thought you'd veer from the beef burrito, you haven't seen the 15 vegetarian optionsat Rodeo--try a potato burrito with a chalupa on the side.
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- Free parking in the lot across from Brightleaf Square. Bring your ticket in to get validated.
- Know Before You Go:
- Kid- and birthday-party friendly and a great after-work hangout for those who find neighboring restaurants too slick.
surprised!

very surprised that El Rodeo was as good as it was. Very cool atmosphere, serves cold Corona's and very large burritos. Kind of challenging location to find. I recommend the burritos, there may be other good options but when i think of them, I think of freshness...which is always a good thing!
- Pros: Different but very good.
- Cons: Hard to find
Standard Mexican Fair
by joeypm at Citysearch
Been here a few times for Lunch. Usually its crowded and the Salsa is OK. The portions are modest compared to other Mexican restaurants. The Food Quality is OK, nothing special. Selections are standard fair. The service is good and the wait staff friendly. The Price is very reasonable but, considering the portion, its right on par. I am guessing the other reviewers dont go out much as there are better Mexican restaurants in the area.
- Pros: Price, service
- Cons: portions

MY FAVORITE PLACE
by steakeater03 at Citysearch
El Rodeo on Main Street is one of the BEST mexican eating places. The wait staff there is extra friendly and quick. Everytime I go in they remember me and what I like! I wish that more places were like this one.
- Pros: Service, Great Food, Price
- Cons: NONE!
Good lunch, served quickly
by rconglet at Citysearch
El Rodeo is a great spot for a quick, hearty lunch that costs about the same as the average fast food joint. The service is fast, but it is good, too. The menu can be overwhelming, but I suggest you try the "Rodeo Lunch" -- very tasty. This not "four star fine dining" by any means -- just good food, served quickly at a good price. that combination makes it a recommended place for lunch as far as I'm concerned.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Attentive service, Convenient locations
- Cons: Can be crowded
