GREAT FAMILY EXPERIENCE
by rollerskatecritic at Citysearch
My family and i visited wheels this past weekend and had a great experience. The staff was well trained for every question that we had. We bought fun bands,( you get to go to all of the attractions with the fun band) what a great deal, for 12-15 dollars we were able to ride go karts which are great, they put down a new track. We also got time to enjoy the skating rink, boy has it changed since i was a kid. They have an awsome light show and 3 video screens. There DJ did a great job getting the kids involved with all of the games. We also were able to get to the fun house with our bands we went mini golfing and played in the play unit. It was great the kids loved it the have deffinetly cleaned it up since i was a kid it was clean and the kids had a great time. One of the employes was even able to talk me into climbing in with my kids. Over all i am pleased with the improvements in wheels and the staff. Things have changed a bunch since we were kids.
- Pros: FRIENDLY STAFF
- Cons: N/A
Lets get the story straight

As a Black Muslim I usually have to be very careful when I am eating out. My group was having a get together at Wheels Fun Center. We have certain dietary restrictions that cannot be compromised. Wow, did the staff at Wheels go out of their way to make us feel at ease. One of the staff members thought far enough a head to bring in special topping for the pizzas we ordered. They brought in turkey pepperoni, sliced green and red peppers, sauteed mushrooms and onions, kosher ground beef (pre-cooked). They even thought about the little ones, they brought in kosher beef hotdogs. What a feast. I give them a perfect A+ on their food.
The building was a little bit dirty, but what do you expect from a building that is probably 20 years old. They could do a lot better. A little scrubbing here and there and a fresh coat of paint would do wonders. That get a C+
The skates were in pretty bad shape, but I did see one of the staff members working on them. Good job. All in all their skates get a D-. They were not even spraying disinfectant into the skates after every use.
The bathrooms were another story. They appeared to be clean, but the men?s room smelled like urine. The frames that held up the curtains (what ever happened to the concept of doors on bathroom stalls) had not been painted. More than half of the stalls did not have paper in them. There were no towels to dry your hands on, as well as no soap or sanitizing agent. They give them a C- on their bathrooms.
The staff was friendly was friendly enough, but they were very under staffed. I guess with the economy the way it is, they have to cut corners somewhere. This lack of help did put a bind on customer service, but with their good attitudes, it was forgivable. Give then a B-.
The music was OK, but not my taste. I give the DJ a B+
So did they make the grade. yes. However, the place really does need a full cleaning. Their total score was about a C+, about average.
- Pros: good staff, just not enough of them to offer good customer service
- Cons: Need to repair or replace rent skates. Please spray skates with disinfectant
A Place That Our Community Needs For The Youth of Durham

Wheels has a bad rap! With must who don't understand that every business has it seasons. Wheels has committed to affordability for the public for many many years. They have had some of the best events for all ages, and continues to plan for the best in the future. It has been obvious that the are committed to the youth, and they are at least doing what many other entertainment companies in Durham are not doing. Must never offering the youth the chance or even a affordable event admission. What a chance we taken when we go to the city's so called best neighborhoods. You see murders, like (Peterson's) and common law thugs every wear, some wear Armani suits, and others wear robes. So what does this mean " Wheels is just as good as any other places, and it will not be one place we boycott, because cause of their loyalty. What about you bigger companies sponsoring events at this location, to change the stigma. Much like you do in Cary, where they have destroyed their own wives, and children. So lets not talk about reality! We need Wheels, and Wheels needs us. Come by and watch the place transition within the neat year. We the public have spoken, just like we did for Obama.Wheels we honor the vision, and hope that you remain in our community for twenty more years. Stop by share your concerns, and be fair to the people who are working hard in this economy, we are proud to have Wheels, and people who visit our city should go out enjoy, and support Wheels. We have destroyed enough, and the time for support, of some one who is remaining to support the public youth and their families. Oh you never seen the site. Keep up the go work Becky, Renee, Darryl, and Brenda.
- Pros: Within Good Distance from Intersate.
- Cons: Need Better Signage and Community Advertisement.
