Great Place to go with children. My son loves going to Life and Science. It is very worth it to get the membership. If you have a family of 4 and go at least 4 times you already saved money by purchasing the membership. Its best to go during the week BUT not on Wednesday, because they offer a free day. And it gets really crowed. Another positive about membership is you can enter an hour early before its open to the public. Definitely a fun place to go with kids or other family members.

Butterflies, bugs and hands-on activities: The museum kids want to visit again and again.. In Short
The original museum already features attractions like the Apollo 15 moon lander, Megamaze and petting zoo, but Durham's Museum of Life and Science also built a butterfly house, complete with the Magic Wings tropical butterfly conservatory, seasonal Carolina Butterfly Pavilion and the Aventis CropScience insectarium. Almost every exhibit has some kind of hands-on component.

no need to have kids to go !. We've spent a great afternoon there... even with no kids ! The butterfly house is fantastic during the summer.

great for kids. this is a parent's or caregiver's wonderland... kids are given free rein to explore and imagine and you have no mess to pick up afterward - on the contrary you are left with a happily tired child. stretch their brains and their legs at this fun and rewarding museum. i am happy to say that we have a famiy membership (best bargain around - right up there with a family membership to the NC Zoo) and my daughter always looks forward to her weekly visit.

Fun While You Learn for the Whole Family. My family has had a family member package for three years now. My 5yo boy and 6yo girl absolutely love it. He gets to run around, touch, bang on stuff, see live animals and bang on stuff. She gets to do arts and crafts stuff and experiment with all of the science gadgets. And me and my wife usually end up learning something new ourselves. I would definiltey reccommend this place for anyone. Oh they even have 'Nights Out', where parents have an adult evening while the kids play and learn.
