The "Deluxe" Hoax. Upon arrival in our “deluxe” hotel room at the Hilton near Duke University we were immediately disappointed. DO NOT waste your money on the “deluxe” room package. It is exactly the same as a regular room. The staff insisted there were extra amenities that came with the “deluxe” room. We were entitled to complementary continental breakfast. This actually included only half of the breakfast bar that was laid out. Other Hiltons include the whole breakfast bar with their complementary breakfast package. We would have rather saved the extra money and ate breakfast at McDonald’s. There would have been a better selection and paid less. We were also supposed to receive complementary water and robes with the “deluxe” package. In reality, there was one bottle of water in the room and one robe. Keep in mind that we booked the room and told them that two people were staying in the room. We also had to share one free appetizer and beverage. Furthermore, the internet page went into detail describing all the wonderful things about the “deluxe” room but they were all just misleading. Besides the overrated “deluxe” room and lack of trash cans available the hotel is nice, clean, updated and friendly but please don’t waste your money on the “deluxe” room. We would stay here again but not be fooled by the joke of a “deluxe” room. If we were to rate the hotel in general it would be 3 stars but the “deluxe” room is only 1 star.

Hilton Durham Not Fed Friendly. My boss went online and reserved a room. It was listed as the Federal Government rate. However, after he came back to work and I went to process his voucher I noticed they charged him $10.00 over the Federal Per Diem rate each night. Our agency doesn't permit this so I called the hotel. They would not reimburse him the $10.00 per night charge. They stated he had a room upgrade - which he says was anything but!, and they stated he had breakfast available. He said he wasn't told . I've been doing his travel for quite a few years and haven't run into this before, so I'm warning you all. BEWARE unless you're willing to start paying for your own business trips. Or, try Marriott!

Blue? Yes I am. So they've changed the name and done some surface work but it's the same bad place it was before. Ive seen the ads everywhere for the place and went to check it out and saw new managers, new bartenders (that dont knwo how to bartend) and the food is still bad.

Overall, same place, new name.

What a change a year makes!. I visited the Durham Hilton on business last year and felt that it was just ok. I was back to Durham last month and ended up back at the Hilton again. WOW. The appearance of the lobby has changed (more like home with carpet and furniture - not just a lot of marble) and the new rooms are fantastic. The beds are the best i've slept in ... Westin Heavenly Bed has nothing on the Durham Hilton's new beds! The food and service in their restaurant and bars was true to the Hilton name. I hear that they are doing a drastic remodel to their sports bar. I'll be back in Durham in a few months and can't wait to see a Duke basketball game in the new sports bar (hoping that it is complete). This is without a doubt, the place to stay if traveling into Durham NC.

Excellent!!. I thought the last time I stayed at this hotel it would be the last time. The place was really getting run down and looked un-cared for. But WOW have they changed! I heard they had renovated, so I tried them again and couldn't be happier! The new rooms are the best I've seen in a long time, their service people have really improved and I left feeling like I lived there!

WOW!!!!. I was at the Hilton in Durham last weekend and WOW. They have really undergone some major changes. I was their last year and the service was great, but the rooms were a bit tired. They have remodeled their rooms and they are awesome. I was also very pleased with the restaurant menu and our server was excellent!!! We will ALWAYS use the Hilton when we are in Durham!

Beautiful new rooms!. With all of the renovations, the rooms are beautiful! The bed was comfy and the feeling in the room was just so welcoming.

On top of that, the food and service in the restaurant was impeccable!
