Sometimes feel ill. This is a gorgeous location and the servers know what they're doing. The food has been good and there is a decent amount of variety, but I occasionally get sick after eating there. The sanitation score was 94 at my last visit...which isn't horrendous, but I still got an upset stomach for the next 24 hours.
Never again.
My co-workers and I had lunch at Parizade on 2/10/10 and it was enough to ensure I will never go back. We arrived and it took 10 minutes to order drinks, another 10 for them to actually arrive and then the waitress vanished for another 10 minutes. Even though this was during the lunch rush, their were not a lot of people in the restaurant and there were a number of staff members walking around. So, thirty minutes in and we still have not ordered. After our food was ordered it sat in the window long enough for all of the soups to be cold. Our orders were not correct and it took two attempts at getting someone over to the table to get it corrected.
The waitress sat our food down at the table, turned and left without asking if anyone needed anything, she never refilled any drinks and never asked if orders were correct. At the end of the meal she said their was a problem in the kitchen and that was what caused the delay...odd considering I saw the plates just sitting on the kitchen ledge waiting for someone to actually deliver them to the table.
The manager also came over and said their were problems in the kitchen, but I just have a hard time believing that when tables all around us did not seem to have any issues with getting their drinks refilled or food in a timely manner.
Dessert was offered on the house as compensation, and that was disappointing as well.
More hits than misses.
An upscale atmosphere with a lot of custom metal work and spectacular paintings greet you at Parizade.
If we had been there before we would have probably dressed up a bit, but no one seemed to take issue with our jeans.
Our server introduced himself 3 times, and his accent was a bit thick, but he was attentive and was able to answer some menu questions, make some suggestions, and he treated my 5 year old daughter very well.
The food arrived slightly longer than I would have liked, but not at all unreasonably.
The rosemary roast chicken was very well cooked, nice and juicy. My oxtail ragout with gnocchi was velvety and tender. The paella was a surprise miss, with flavors of gumbo instead of Spain.
The prices were more than reasonable; I'd go so far as to say a bargain for the quality and atmosphere.
I would absolutely go back.
Excellent Service, Great Food. Outstanding waitress, excellent food at a fair price. We dined on a Monday evening and it was lightly occupied so our server didn't have many tables to handle. The rosemary grilled chicken was outstanding. My wife had the orzo/seafood/spinach dish and it was extremely good with generous portions., The only problem was we were too full to try the desserts.
best service. my class and i went there and even though we only spent 20 bucks they treated us like we spent a million. i mean you should have seen the waiters wait on us hand and foot. and they did it with kindness. i absloutley love that place. anyone who havent been there you are truley missing out on something truely special
Great food, service needs work and it's VERY NOISY. I was there on a night when they had a rather large wedding party. Service was very slow because of it. The food was wonderful. The waitress failed to ask if we wanted to take our leftovers home and by the time we tracked her down it was too late. We found the place VERY noisy. Not sure they can do anything about the noise level but because of it I don't think I would go back.
great ambience atmosphere, awesome service, divine food, great wine selection, just a lovely place.
This is a most wonderful and one of my fav places to go. The atmosphere is warm, romantic, calming
and nice for a wonderful dinner out with friends/family. The wait staff are excellant. The menu choices
are the best, wide variety steaks, pastas<fresh, fresh fish etc. The salad items are beautiful and delicious and all entrees are presented in taste. I have never had a bad item there in 15 years. I would highly rec ommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful night out. A loving date night etc. The dress is nice, or casual. Just about anything goes from relaxed nice to dressy. No coat and tie needed but you can wear one if you are more in a comfy zone with.....they have a nice waiting bar area. The place is absolute beautiful with wonderful jazz music. There is outside dine avail with a wonderful tranquil water fall. I cannot imagine anyone giving this place a bad recommendation.......try it again if you had a bad experience. As far as kids, my kid is 7 he did just fine, it is for kids that are under parental control, not wild! he took a DS and did just fine. Jennifer Bobbitt Wilkins
Fabulous service, menu, price, atmosphere, and FOOD!. This place has been around for years, and there is a good reason for that! The lively, unique decor sets a tone for a fun, yet sophisticated dining experience. Our server(s) were all true professionals, and with only a small snafu with a bottle of wine (he didn't hear me ask for another) our table of 4 was treated well and all of our dishes arrived promptely, the proper temps, and were lovely to the eye and palate. Again, I am beginning to think that the good restaurants are in Durham! Thumbs up!
Owner Georgio Bakatsias brings glam to the area, along with eclectic dishes that evoke the Mediterranean..
In Short
The deco-styled interior has serpentine-shape accents with hammered copper above an exposed cooking area. Low, mood-drenched lighting reveals Tuscan touches and superb paintings. There are two pasta specialties: pappardelle bolognese with provencal sauce, and fresh and smoked salmon fettuccini with red pepper and champagne pepper cream sauce. The pappardelle with its robust ground beef sauce is a comfy, tasty treat and the California BBQ chicken pizza with bean sprouts has a good overall flavor.
BIG $$$ Little else. I get there and the ambiance is great, so I think "hmmmm this place is gonna be OK". WRONG! Just how much is too much to pay for food? Come to Parizade and find out. Nothing spectactular about the food....its cooked, edible and served with little sprigs of this-n-that on the plate to make it look fancy. Bottom line, save your cash and eat out 3 times at other local places for what it costs to eat here once. The service was below average. I have not left such a small tip in a LONG time. It was that bad. How many times do you have to ask for refills, especially in the south? Come to Parizade and find out. There are too many other good restaurants with better prices in this area fo rthis place to be here too much longer. Lesson learned
