Tips for Rooms To Go

February 16, 2013

I definitely agree with the other postings, and would never shop this store again, I was told that I was buying on the last day of the interest free financing for 5 years, and it has been offered almost every week since then. I also thought purchased full coverage insurance, per the salesman, however that was just for stains per all of the calls I have had since the furniture was delivered. When I tell them no, they say I will be taken off the list, and then someone calls the next week, I was not offered the TVs, however less yhan a month after my living room was delivered they were offering a free 50 and 32 inch TVs. When phoned I was told they did not honor this on old orders. They will not have to worry about me in rhw future, because I will not go into the store again, and will tell anyone I know that they are crooks!!!

Definitely would not recommend this store. They have no sense of what customer service means. The manager actually said he didn't understand why I was upset that they forgot to deliver part of our order, that we had to drive to the store to pick it up, and that the store employee didn't apologize to us. He said we should be satisfied because "they let us" go pick it up ourselves.

Do Not Buy From HERE!!!. I recently moved to Durham for school and live in an apartment. I ordered multiple items from RTG. The customer service was absolutely terrible. They pulled my order for some reason and did not tell me which delayed my shipping a week and a day. When that day finally came and I was told that the furniture would be delivered in the 1-5 pm window, I came home after class and did work for those 4 hours. Once 5 o'clock passed i called the toll free number to get a status on my delivery. This lady was rude and told me basically that the truck was in Durham (thanks a lot). When 5:30 rolled around I called again hoping to get someone more helpful. Not a chance. This lady told me nonchalantly that the computers to track the truck were down and the driver wasn't answering his phone. After having to miss a meeting and a class my furniture finally arrived that night. There are multiple other furniture stores in the Durham area that I wish I tried and hope you do instead bc RTG is incompetent and their customer service is embarrassing.

Horrible Customer Service from Store Manager. My husband and I purchased a bed and paid for delivery from the RTG showroom in Durham, NC. When they arrived the hardware was not included in the packaging so the team could not put the bed together. Being that we already removed our old bed, I wanted to get something resolved before the delivery team left. I called and spoke with the Manager, Brian, and his suggestion was for ME to drive out to their location and pick up a bed frame so that we werent sleeping on the floor, until they could order the hardware. To me that was unacceptable. He also told me there was pretty much nothing he could do for me and that I needed to realize that I was calling him at 5:45pm. After telling him, I needed this to be resolved asap, he told me to give him a few minutes and he'd call back. When he did, he advised me that HIS cst service rep was already gone for the day(it was 5:45pm) and that I could call the 800 number but HE WAS NOT ABLE TO!! I was completely taken aback that a store manager would speak to a customer in that manner. My husband became involved and when he called, he was told the manager was busy and couldn't come to the phone. My husband called back and advised them to send the delivery team back out to pick up the furniture because at that point, we didn't want to do any further business with them. the 800 customer service number shuts down at 6:00pm and when my husband called them, the person who answered the phone advised, "they were leaving for the evening so it would have to be looked into tomorrow." This matter was reported to the customer service supervisory team. I am baffled as to how people like this work in customer service. A simple solution to our problem would have been for an employee to bring the bed frame out to us, so that we were not inconvenienced any further and set up for a service tech to come out with the hardware and put the bed together the next day. Room to Go in Durham, NC on Chapel Hill Blvd has the WORST customer service. The manager was condescending, arrogant, and spoke as if he could do nothing for me. Having experience of being a retail manager, I know all managers have the autonomy to make their own decisions that work in the best interest of the customer. All of his suggestions were convenient for him and not to us. For a company that states, "We are committed to your satisfaction," they were not. I would never recommend this location, as long as they are under the same management, to anyone!!!!!!!! Companies need to understand that when people spend their hard earned money, we expect to be treated with respect and courtesy. That's not asking for much!!!!!

Unethical Business Practices. 18 months ago my wife and I purchased a bedroom set for our home. When we signed up, we were offered the 18 months no-interest financing. We paid off our bedroom suit several days before the end of our no-interest grace period. However, the following month we received our statement in the mail and found that we had been charged 99% of the interest anyway because I had NOT LOST MY JOB! Apparently, when we signed the agreement to finance the furniture, we had been mislead into believing that if we pay off the balance in time, we would not have to pay any interest. Turns out, in our case, it didn't matter if we paid it off in time. Due to the fact that we still had our jobs when the balance was due, what Rooms 2 Go calls, "debt shield", kicked in and charged us 99% of the interest that had accrued over the 18 month period. Do not buy into their big, "no-interest", marketing scheme. If you do, make sure the salesperson explains every single detail of the contract and lets you know of any additional circumstances where you may be required to pay the full interest....or at least 99% like we do! Don't let these companies take advantage of you. What happened to ethical business practices?

Rude Salesman, Almost got Scammed!!!. I do not recommend this store.

My BF was looking for a sofa for his den so we went there for an inexpensive sofa

since they were advertising $299 deal on TV. We found one we liked and decided to purchase.

When a salesman rang up the sofa, the price jumped up to $370 so I asked him why

and he said it was the sales tax.

But as I looked more closely, I found a separate line for sales tax so I asked him again

why the sales tax is applied twice. Then he explains that the first $70 charge is for a "fabric protection"

which we were not even asked if we'd like to add or explained by him prior to him making a decision

to add the charge to the price of sofa.

Since we're going to place this sofa in a den and not even planning to keep it for more than 2 years,

I asked him to remove the protection service. I thought it was not worth it. But he insisted on us having this protection and got very rude when he finally took it off.

Other sales people there did not seem knowledgeable either. They kept asking this salesman to look up everything.

It was a terrible experience and we will never go back to this store again.

Terrible Experience. We bought a Sleeper Sofa and Love Seat and when they delivered, they would not take away the old furniture.

The Service contract reads "In most cases we'll move your old furniture to another room on the same floor or to the curb".

Well apparently we were one of the cases that where they won't move the old furniture to the curb.

We refused delivery as my wife and I were unable to move the furniture ourselves. A manager called and told us that what we read in the service contract was a misnomer????

So these guys sell rooms to go, but you better have an empty room or an extra living room on the same floor for them to move the old furniture to.

We will never step foot in Rooms To Go again.
