We loved the decor and ambiance from the start. The staff was attentive and very friendly. When it came to the food, the best expression to use is "OMG!" I was so pleasantly surprised! My husband and I high-fived outside the restaurant since we found a new favorite Thai and Sushi restaurant that's not in Chapel Hill or the Raleigh area. Honestly, the Coconut cake and the Mango cakes are deadly good! I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Asian food or fabulous desserts. - Mary C. (Hillsborough, NC). Also, the location is easy to get to and I love that it is close to AMF Durham Lanes.
Performing chefs cook up rustic, home-style Italian entrees at this buzzing family restaurant..
In Short
A boisterous, all-ages crowd of pasta lovers pack this energetic Italian spot, where chefs clad in white hats and red scarves keep diners wide-eyed by showing their moves in the busy open kitchen. The menu boasts family-sized portions of hearty traditional fare, from antipasti, chicken and pasta dishes to seafood, steak and wood-fired pizzas. Signature plates include grilled pork chops, lobster ravioli, and penne rustica with shrimp, grilled chicken and smoked prosciutto in cream sauce.
Great experience.
My boyfriend and I went to Macaroni Grill for my birthday, and again for our anniversary. For my birthday, I enjoyed eating one of their Italian specialties, but most recently, I had the Simple Salmon entree, as I'm on a strict diet. (They were very accomodating with my dietary needs, and that was a breath of fresh air.) The salmon and asparagus were yummy!
For the most part, the ambience was great as well, but it was just a little loud.
Great food but place is very loud. I love the food there! And the service is really nice too! However, it is a very very loud place! If you ask for the tables with the sofa seats (not the ones next to the kitchen of course), the noise level is not so bad. And as also, I'm a fan of drawing on the table cloth!
Great for a Chain. For a chain resturaunt, the Macaroni Grill is great. The food is great & the service is so-so. I actually prefer it to most independent Italian resturaunts, since the food is authentic but simple. I hate going somewhere and not finding anything I like on the menu because the owners are too high class to put good, simple food on their menu. If you're tired of some kind of fish stuffed with unpronouncable additives and creamed spinach, then I'd recommend you visit Macaroni Grill for some "just plain good" food.
Break the chain. In a town with wonderful mediterranean restaurants, why anyone would patronize this bland chain Kraft dinner restaurant that is loud and non-descript is beyond me. Unpleasantly loud, a pretentious Shoney's.
Superb "chain" italian. Macaroni grill is a wonderful place for italian food. Dishes are delectable, jugs of wine terrific. Wait staff could be more attentive. Lines can be long sometime but well worth the wait.
