Bought a car here . The service was polite, the car I got was super and the price was ok too
I own a 2012 Passat S from this dealership. This service here is always great! They are always going out of there way to help their customers. I went in today to get a new tire, they did not have the tire I wanted in stock so they provided me with a brand new Passat SE to drive until my baby is ready.
Keith Hutchins was a delight to work with. Not only is he is friendly and very knowledgeable about the VW product line, but he is enthusiastic about the company and the various models that we looked at. Before taking a couple of test drives in the two different models, he went over their characteristics and tried to help me understand some of the mechanics behind the great handling that they have. He answered every question I came up with and was frank with his answers, spending almost two hours with me! I had test-driven a VW at another VW dealership nearby and basically got in the car and drove around with the salesperson, got out, was asked if I had any questions, and then I was off, after about 45 minutes. The salesperson seemed to communicate that he didn't care if I were interested in the car or not. What a difference at Southern States of Durham with Keith! Keith made my experience (and my husband's, who test-drove the car with Keith about one week after me)not only very informative but pleasurable.
Keith Hutchins was so courteous and helpful with the purchase of my new Beetle. It was my dream car and although I had some credit issues, Keith worked hard to get me in my dream car. I would highly recomend this dealership to anybody! These people rock! I've never been treated so respectfully at a car dealership. It was the best car buying experience I've ever had.
It helps if you submit internet price requests ahead of time -turned out to be about $1,000 less on an already good fair price Josh offered. So, overall, price was definitely a "5" after SSVW matched the internet quote (from the same dealer, but internet department interestingly). Chavis, the finance guy was really pushing the over-priced warranty stuff but was genuinely friendly and respectful.
I personally think a bottle of krytox (super special and expensive lube NEEDED for the seals on the Eos's convertible roof, seriously) should be included with every new Eos purchase -maybe service department will do themselves? I kinda doubt it. Oh, and one of the clips on my all season mats was broken -but the dealer had no way to know that.
I just want to make a shout out to Southern States VW of Durham, specifically Rod Miller, Keith Hutchins and Derek Lett (General Manger) and Santiago. I first heard about this dealership on the Light 103.9 over a year ago and wrote the name and number down on a napkin and kept it in my truck. Well, this year, God prompted me to contact them, I did an application online and referenced hearing Rod on the radio. I met with Keith Hutchins, Rod Miller and Derek Lett (General Manager) and was treated with the utmost respect and care. The vehicle I was originally looking for had been sold, but this group of kind people found me another one; which was even better!! Just like the commercial says, Good credit, bad credit, no credit...they go above and beyond the call of duty to get you into a vehicle!! I commend them on so many levels that I felt compelled to write on your wall for your Light listeners to read and perhaps be able to experience the superb car buying process that my wife and I shared! God bless!!!
I absolutely hate shopping for a car, but our daughter blew out the engine on her car yesterday, so we had to enter the marketplace again. After looking around the internet, we ended up driving a short distance to Southern States Volkswagen. We were met by Keith Hutchins as we walked in the door. This was the beginning of a great shopping experience. Keith is VERY knowledgeable (at least about VWs and football). He took my daughter for a test drive, but unlike most test drives I have taken in the past, he used this opportunity to demonstrate many of the important features of the VW Beetle (like the great braking and road handling capabilities of the car). This was much more effective than simply telling us about the features and was an important sales technique since we were quite interested in making sure our daughter got a safe car. Keith help us a little with the price and we drove off with exactly the right car for our daughter -- thanks Keith!! If you want a fair deal on a great car, go to Southern States VW.
Before coming to Southern States, we contacted their assistant internet sales manager, Anita, about their inventory of Passat TDIs (these are in high demand and most dealerships only have 1-2 on the lot) and to see if we could get a deal on the sticker price listed on-line. She responded immediately and offered a very fair discount off the advertised sticker price. Because of that, we scheduled a test drive and Keith Hutchins was our sales person. He rocked...he gave us a thorough test drive of both the Passat TDI and the Jetta diesel. He was not only knowledgeable about both vehicles, but during the test drive, he had us do various maneuvers to highlight the handling and safety features of the Passat and Jetta. It was not your typical test drive and that was a very good thing. Keith wasn't pushy or arrogant, as we experienced at other dealerships (e.g., Leith VW in Cary).
We decided to purchase the VW Passat TDI, but they didn't have the color we wanted on the lot. Even so the Passat TDI is selling like hotcakes everywhere, Keith and Anita worked hard and they were able to find a silver Passat TDI in D.C., that was then delivered to Southern States. We worked with Mitch in financing, who is both friendly, enthusiastic and approachable. Plus, he was able to get the financing we wanted.
All in all, everyone at Southern States VW (Keith, Anita, Mitch) were great to work with...I can't say enough good things about them. I encourage you to go there over the other VW dealerships in Raleigh and Cary...at Southern States we got solid information and professionalism.
Okay, so here I am pulling out of TJMaxx at 6:50 PM on Friday night when my engine light and my EPC light both come on. Yikes! I am from out of town visiting for the weekend with my wife and two small children. I remembered Southern States VW, where my wife used to get her oil changed. I showed at the service door, with no appointment, shortly before 8 AM and met "Little Ronnie". My experience was superior. From the moment I showed up to the moment I left, I felt like I was taken care of like a family member. In only two hours, they had diagnosed and replaced the defective part on my 2012 VW CC. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!! Thanks for helping me out in a tough situation!
Keith-Exceptional, Professional, competent, expedient, & pleasant. Learned my wants & needs quickly-put the deal together Quickly, & Secured a Great deal for me.
