Restaurant in Woodcroft. This review is to make sure readers understand that there are 2 Hong Kong restaurants in Duhram. Reviews posted here should be for the one on Hope Valley Rd, in the Woodcroft Shopping Center, in SW Durham. The other restaurant (the dim sum place) that the previous reviewer described is in North Durham. From what I have observed, they are not connected except to have a similar name.

The Hong Kong on Hope Valley Rd. is primarily take-out with a handful of small tables for dining. The food is excellent and consistent every time, the portions are sizable, the service is very efficient, and the counter staff always friendly. It has been our family's favorite restaurant for Chinese food for the several years they have been in operation.

Do Not Advise. Well, after a year of listening to my mother-in-law rave about the "dim sum place", I finally got my chance and boy was this establishment a big let down. I had read some reviews and FULLY expected the horrible service I had read about (along with the lack of parking and long wait) but did not care as long as the food was as good as I had heard. I will say, we did not order off the menu as I was told the Sunday Dim Sum cart would be all I needed. Well around came the carts and it was the same three carts all six times. No one came to refill our drinks and the only two tasty dishes were the spare ribs (which surprisingly I usually NEVER like) and the turnip cakes out of the 10 items we tried. So that being said, I received the horrible service I anticipated but was shocked to find the food the same. The price is quite fair, I will give the Hong Kong that, but not worth the consumption. Also there was some definite preferential treatment which I did not appreciate (and yes, I know this happens frequently but I still do not approve). IF I were to try the Hong Kong again, I would ONLY sit in the main booth seating area and be VERY vocal with the wait staff which would be my recommendation to anyone willing to give this restaurant a try.
