I have yet to write a bad review for a restaurant but am now inspired because China Cafe really gave us the worst food I have ever had, and I am not that fussy. Sesame chicken was hard to chew. We threw out the Pad Thai, it was so bad - gummed together noodles, sauce with no flavor. Only dish half-way decent was Eggplant w/garlic sauce (and I've had better). I recommend staying clear of this place!! Hard to believe there are good reviews - makes me wonder if they are relatives of the owner!
Great Place for Money and Quality. China Cafe is my absolute favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is cheap, there's so much of it (order it to-go!), and the quality of the food exceeds expectations. Yes, the customer service is lacking, but you don't go to a restaurant for the customer service, you go for the FOOD, and the food is awesome. Done.
Great take-out. My wife and I have eaten here a number of times and considered the place average for a small Chinese restaurant: reasonable prices and smaller portions and limited service. However when we decided to order take-out we found the food to be substantially better: large portions and excellent quality at reasonable prices, perfect for my tastes. Reading the other reviews and looking at the average rating, it's clear this restaurant is primarily (and best eaten) take-out.
BAD DINING EXPERIENCE! ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE!. Food is questionable and the service is surly. I have eaten lots of Chinese food - good and bad - and the food at China Cafe is on the poor end. Plus the staff goes out of their way to make customers feel as though they are in the way, worthless and bothersome. Trust me: you don't need the aggravation or the stomach cramps. GO ELSEWHERE!
Some entrees good. But pretty much average cooked somewhere else and warmed up locally. Bourbon chicken good, soggy shrimp in Chow Har Kew, should have been crisp! Huge servings. Half serving is plenty. Hostess was very nice, helpful.
Regular pricing with smaller portions. The people are friendly and service is pretty prompt. I ordered a regular dish of the homestyle tofu and they put quite a bit of sugar in the brown sauce. It wasnt bad food. An extra bowl of rice is $1. There was not much vegetables in the dish. I've had bigger portions served for the same price at other chinese restaurants.
