In Short – A marriage of minds and tastebuds, this restaurant is a fusion of Chinese and Thai cuisine run by a couple who bring their respective ancestries into the kitchen. The Thai menu is an extensive collection of classics and house specialties. Kaeng Matsan and Kaeng Ped dishes are offered, as are a large selection of noodle dishes. Terrible Thai food

by fitwoman56 at Citysearch

I have gone to this Thai place for years (under the old management). A friend told me they had "changed hands." But on a whim last night I ordered take out. Well it will be the last time I ever go out of my way to go there again. The menu has changed...and I do mean changed. The food is greasy, heavy..and does not taste fresh. When I went to pick up order at 7:30 in the evening there was not a single person in the place. It looked like a ghost town! Clearly the place has gone down hill....now to find if the original owners have opened a new place? I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants good Thai food! I will never be back. Too bad, because it WAS a great place, before.

I won't be eating here again.

I was disappointed to find that Fortune Garden has gone way downhill since I last ate there a year or so ago. The service was very slow and inattentive, the food very bland, and the menu has very few Thai dishes now. Definitely not the place it once was. Also, this evening I discovered that they've decided walking around RTP parking lots yanking on windshield wipers and stuffing fliers under them (many of which end up on the ground as litter - one of my pet peeves) is an acceptable way to advertise. It's not, as far as I'm concerned. This restaurant is definitely NOT recommended.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Slow, bland, few Thai dishes; they stick flyers under your windshield wipers to advertise

Homey and Great!

by fjs at Citysearch

We moved back to the area a few months ago, and found this place pretty quickly. They started treating us like family right away, and now greet us by name when we walk in. The place is quiet at nights, since Southpoint Mall came into being, but it can get busy at lunch. The place isn't fancy, but the service is always great, and the food is really good. It's not often you can find a family-run local restaurant anymore, and we really like that. Our favorite dish is Ma Po Tofu -- grandma's recipe!
