Great Calabash Seafood

I love seafood. If I am going to eat fried seafood, I eat calabash style usually at the coast. But my sister said Kemp's was good so I decided to try it. Before tonight I had never heard of Kemp's. On 12/3/08 at 6:00PM we arrived in one of the cleanest seafood restaurants I have ever been to. You could take BUSLOADS of people in there and not run out of room. The cashiers were very friendly and attentive. I ordered the buffalo shrimp starter and I have to say it was not good to me. I'm used to jumbo shrimp and it was the baby shrimp. My mistake. I did not read the menu correctly. It had old bay or some other spice rather than just good old buffalo hot sauce. So it was not bad food but it was certainly not to my personal liking. I also ordered a small 2 combo of popcorn scallops and clam strips. With fries and coleslaw it was $13.99 I thought the price was fair for supper and the portions were huge. I could not finish everything. My sister ordered the small 2 combo with shrimp and deviled crabs and her portions were huge as well. She received 2 deviled crabs. We feel in the future we could split the small 2 combo - and I'm a big eater! The crabs were made with imitation crab legs and that was disappointing. The popcorn shrimp and scallops were prepared true to calabash style fried crisp but not rubbery. They were sweet and fresh tasting. The clam strips were huge and chewy but not rubbery. I was pleased. The coleslaw that came with the food was creamy and tasty. The hushpuppies were awesome. I personally did not like the fries. They were "coated" - like the old Burger King fries. They were crisp and hot and fresh, but I just don't like those kind. We were served in eco friendly paper containers. We got our own drinks and did not have to pay tip. I LOVED that. However, there was a sign that announced starting in January they will have full service at supper and counter service only at lunch. I will definitely go back!

First time in a 1 1/2 years. Why did I wait??

WOW! My husband and I have not been to Kemp's in about a year and a half. If you have not been in a while you will not believe how great the place looks!

As soon as we opened the door the hostess and I think the manager greeted us so warm and kindly! We had a rather large group with us so we were expecting a long wait, but suprisingly we didn't have to wait long at all. And I just want to emphasize how accomodating they were! Once we were at our table we had barley sat down before the hushpupies arrived. HOT HOT HOT hushpuppies were served. They are so good with butter. I could not believe the service that we recieved with a large group. The order was taken promptly, all of our orders were correct, all of the food was hot and delicious. We had no problem getting beers and wine refilled and there was always someone around filling up our tea's and soft drinks. I also want to make a note my husband is not a seafood eater he got their ribeye steak of which I had to try a bite. It was unbelieveable, as good as any steak I have ever had at a nice steakhouse. End of story. I have never taken time to write any type of review or comment, but we all in our group were so impressed with our entire evening at Kemp's Seafood House I wanted to pass on our good experience.

First time we tried Kemp me and my husband last night, it was one of the best dining experience in a while. the quality of the food is far superior than other seafood places, and the prices are very reasonable.our server was very friendly and pleasant. We just found our new favorite place to eat at.

Service with a smile!

I visit Kemps often whenever I am in the mood for crab legs! I must say that every time I go the staff memebers are very pleasant and courteous to all guests. Its nice to go and have a meal there when you are surrounded by smiling faces who are there and ready to help you!

Don't pass by... STOP!

For the first time Saturday night my boyfriend and I decided to eat at Kemps. We always pass it on our way to Brier Creek so we decided to give it a try. We both ordered grilled fish, that was grilled to perfection! They also have a good variety of side items other than the usual baked potato and salad. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! I can promise you we will be back sooner than you think!

Great Place For Large Groups

we had our mother's birthday this past weekend at Kemp's, we had a large group of 45 people.We had our own room ,

it was ready when we got there, the manager was very friendly and helpful . The food was great and came out on time despite our large number, and it tasted great.

Everybody loved it and more important my mom had a good time.

Great to take out also!

I often stop by Kemp's on the way home from work to pick up food for the family. I especially like getting take out from Kemp's because you actually get the same quality and same quantity in your take out as you would when you dine in! A lot of other resturants seem to skim the portions down a little when you take it to go! Its great to know whenever you come to Kemp's, dine in or take out you get your moneys worth!
