TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT
by bellerina27
Just recently went to Sirens (hadn't been since it was sold) and WOW -- What a disappointment! The staff has completely changed, the feeling of the place is totally different, and the highly intoxicated guy who claimed to be the new owner was awful. He was slurring his words, being extremely rude to another group, and was one of the most obnoxious people I have ever met. I hope they sell and someone with some class and sense buys it!!!
- Pros: best setting
- Cons: worst management
Not the same
by mandaa16
OMG! When was Sirens sold to new owners?! Its soooo not the same! My husband & I met at the bar two years ago while in law school. It was our favorite spot. we were visiting recently for my little brother's graduation and stopped in. it was like the twilight zone... looked kind of the same, but NOT. Totally different crowd, music, vibe. Such a shame. With all the activity taking place downtown, the former owners should open something else (if theyre still around). Major hole in durham nightlife! Really enjoyed some of the new restaurants in town tho. Revolution is great!
- Pros: location
Sirens, We Miss You!!!
by bullcityriser55
Siren's was sold to new owners a couple months ago... don't expect it to be the same. It isn't. This used to be my favorite place in the Triangle. A place anyone could go to, have an amazing time, and be treated like family. The new owners don't seem to know what they're doing and have ruined it. I don't know why they won't just rename it and make it their own. It is a shame. All the staff and entertainment bailed when the previous owners did. I will try to just remember it the way it was.
durham's real neighborhood pub
by todd1778
With the recent closing of Durham's Jo and Joe's and now Ringside, Sirens is quickly becoming Durham's real neighborhood pub. there's a strong local following here now... lots of artists and musicians with recent band and guest DJ nights they started doing. i'm definitely diggin it. i just try to steer clear on those Duke undergrad nights they have a few times a month. and thanks for picking up PBR! :) my fav!
- Pros: fun crowd, different nightly events, martinis & PBR
loving the new DJ nights!!!
by maureenv1976
Sirens has really stepped up its game! I've been going to this spot for years. And I have to say that it just keeps getting better and better! My friends and I are loving the new guest DJ nights. The upgraded sound and light show is sick... we went last month for the house night they do on third Fridays. I didn't feel like I was in Durham at all! Incredible bass. Drinks are fantastic, as always. And the new bartender is HOT. If you haven't gone in a while, definitely worth checking out again. Sirens- I have fallen in love with you all over again.
- Pros: staff, sound system, drinks
For Grownups
by booties73
This is a great place to meet and to be surrounded by a mature crowd. Unlike most dance clubs; Sirens has the bar area that allows you to carry a conversation without YELLING. The music played throughout the week is nice, because of the various styles. The weekend djs play all the hits, even the ones I have forgot about. I really like this place when going out on a date. In one word Sirens Lounge is "sexxy".
- Pros: Music, crowd, atmosphere
- Cons: would like less poppy music
A Bartender's Bar... LOVE IT!!!!
by nightlifelvr53
I recently moved to the area & first heard about Sirens in an article in Nations Restaurant News about their infusion martinis. I was not disappointed by the incredible drinks... but it was EVERYTHING else that really impressed me. The staff- like family; it's really fun to watch them interact. Service- unsurpassed. I go to this bar a lot (I am a bartender in the area). Yes, there are definitely some crowded special event nights. But, on most other nights, this is THE place to go for a chill night out and good conversation. My friends and I call it a Bartender's Bar, if that tells you anything. You know it's #1 when you walk in and see bartenders hanging out from all the local hot spots. And, I gotta say, the owner and bar manager... mmhmm! Thank you, Sirens!

In Short
The Sirens Lounge is a martini bar with real character. The circa-1900 building has been renovated to include a rich, red oak bar, complete with a 155-gallon tropical fish tank, a lower-level dance floor and a cozy corner fireplace surrounded by couches. Sip on a Neapolitan martini (dark Godiva, white Godiva and Stoli Razberi) or choose from the wine list.
One of Durham's better bars!

When I first went to the Sirens I was a bit unimpressed but after going a second time, I take back everything I felt. It really is a nice change of pace from going to local favs like the James Joyce and the Federal. It is finally nice for Durham to have a good dance club as well. The drinks are the best I have had. The male batender made me the best martini I have had to date. I really hope this place makes it. It is worth every penny. And thank you to the owner for making a cool hotspot in Durham so my friends and I do not have to travel to Raleigh. Thumbs up to the Sirens.
PS - The paintings are amazing!
- Pros: Atmosphere, Music/Dancefloor, Location
The Perfect Mix
by mis2027
Sirens has the perfect mix of wine bar, martini bar, lounge, and dance floor. Draws in a diverse crowd, especially since it's esasily accessed from the nearby campus and from major Durham roads alike. This is one of the hot newcomers in the Triangle!
- Pros: great drinks, great clientele
