best color and haircut

I recently had my hair cut and hi-lighted here. Jennifer was the stylist and she was great at giving me new ideas and listening to mine. My color and cut is the best it has ever looked. She texterized my boring bob into a very easy yet edgy cut and the color really sets it off. Not only is my hair great the salon as a nice friendly feel also.

Shelly is FANTASTIC

Shelly is the best! After moving here from Syracuse, NY, I tried 4 or 5 places before I found Shelly.

I love to wear short, funky styles with unique color. Shelly nails it every time! While I was growing out my hair she managed to keep me from looking shaggy and gave me an easy to style, cute cut at every stage. She always has great ideas for my hair color, and is adventurous and fun. She is always up to date with hair trends, and can make sure you look fresh!

Shelly is super hard to get into to see because she is so good, so make sure to book a few weeks before you think you will need a hair cut. And then always book your next appointment before you leave. She is worth the effort to see!

Leigh is amazing

I had a business meeting the next day and needed to get my hair cut and styled . Leigh was able to fit me in at a moments notice and she made some excellent recommendations. I walked out of Sling Blades with probably the best hair cut I've had and I looked great the next day for my meeting. I would recommend Leigh to anyone who is looking for a new stylist.

Superb Esthetician!!!!

Sling Blades spa treatments are exceptional. Kristi is fantastic. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and makes you feel immediately comfortable. Incredible service is unbeatable and the prices are extremely reasonable.

I really enjoyed my experience here. She gave me individualized skincare advice and treatment that was great. Highly recommended! I can't wait to go back and have her do a brazilian on me for summer.

Amazing hairstylist

I just moved here and have had a difficult time finding a talented stylist since moving to North Carolina. LEIGH'S talent for style and color is more than I could have hoped to find here.I wanted a completely new look. I went in with a couple of pictures and Leigh helped me come up with a style. I told her that I wanted new color, but told her to pick the colors based on her experience and what would look best with my skin tones. I could not be happier with the result. you must try this salon!

i've been looking for a new salon for some time, so i looked on city search to read some reviews. i decided to try sling blades based on what other people had to say, and they were right! this is the most beautiful and comfortable salon i think i've ever been in. i walked in not really knowing what i wanted to try with my hair, Leigh was my stylist and she took the time to go through some books and make suggestions on what she thought would work best on my hair. between the two of us we came up with a cut that i love.. this is one of few salons filled with friendly faces, and you can actually feel how this team works together. if you try sling blades you will never go anywhere else!

• Cons: just know that you have to drive around to the back of the building

Wow

What a beautiful salon. I felt like I was in New York. I just want to say that any African-American woman looking for someone to take care of their hair, get it to a healthy state with minimal product---any woman really, then Helen is your girl!!! In fact all the stylists were very helpful and really nice. Great Job!!!

The Best Facial Ever!

I scheduled a facial with Kristi and she was great. She educated me on my skin's health and it needs. She made me realize how much my skin represents my health. She removed every blackhead and gave me the best enzyme exfoliation. My skin still feels super soft and smooth. Thanks Kristi, I will definately be back.

SUPERB HAIR CARE BY HELEN

Helen is an excellent hair-care provider, and I could never imagine going to anyone else. She works with all hair types, in particular African-American women's hair. Her styles are always professional, and most important, she is concerned about the health of my hair. Since she became my stylist, my hair has become much thicker and stronger. Relaxers, color, cuts -- Helen does it all exceptionally well!

Best salon experience ever!

I went to Sling Blades for the first time today because they were having a special on hair cuts. I was really impressed by the decor and couldn't believe that I didn't have to wait to be seen. Helen may possibly be the best stylist I've experienced. She looked through my hair and analyzed its condition and told me what I would need to have done. She deep conditioned my hair, washed it, and cut it. Afterwards my hair looked the best it ever has! The service was fast and extremely professional. I would highly recommend Helen (especially for the African American ladies) but all of the other stylists I observed seemed to be really great as well. I plan to return to Sling Blades soon!

Rachel is the real deal

I have VERY thick and hard to manage hair. Every other salon I've been to the stylist will just eventually give up (and I thought that was a given) while coloring and cutting my hair. However, Rachel took the time (5 hours!) needed to make sure all the layers were colored evenly and the cut was distributed well. She also made it fun for me because I could tell even though she was working hard at my hair she still made it a good experience for me because of how long it took. Seriously every other stylist I've been to they would start coloring for an hour and then would rush which makes me nervous about the outcome. Rachel made me feel comfortable and relaxed while being professional. I can't stress enough how awesome she is and I will definitely be back!

• Cons: I live in Carrboro and it's in Durham but it's still worth the drive!
