What a change a year makes!
by awol420 at Citysearch
I visited the Durham Hilton on business last year and felt that it was just ok. I was back to Durham last month and ended up back at the Hilton again. WOW. The appearance of the lobby has changed (more like home with carpet and furniture - not just a lot of marble) and the new rooms are fantastic. The beds are the best i've slept in ... Westin Heavenly Bed has nothing on the Durham Hilton's new beds! The food and service in their restaurant and bars was true to the Hilton name. I hear that they are doing a drastic remodel to their sports bar. I'll be back in Durham in a few months and can't wait to see a Duke basketball game in the new sports bar (hoping that it is complete). This is without a doubt, the place to stay if traveling into Durham NC.
- Pros: the new bed, exceptional service, felt like home
Hilton Durham Not Fed Friendly

My boss went online and reserved a room. It was listed as the Federal Government rate. However, after he came back to work and I went to process his voucher I noticed they charged him $10.00 over the Federal Per Diem rate each night. Our agency doesn't permit this so I called the hotel. They would not reimburse him the $10.00 per night charge. They stated he had a room upgrade - which he says was anything but!, and they stated he had breakfast available. He said he wasn't told . I've been doing his travel for quite a few years and haven't run into this before, so I'm warning you all. BEWARE unless you're willing to start paying for your own business trips. Or, try Marriott!
- Cons: Federal Government Employees Beware

I thought the last time I stayed at this hotel it would be the last time. The place was really getting run down and looked un-cared for. But WOW have they changed! I heard they had renovated, so I tried them again and couldn't be happier! The new rooms are the best I've seen in a long time, their service people have really improved and I left feeling like I lived there!
- Pros: Guest Rooms, Food, Service

I was at the Hilton in Durham last weekend and WOW. They have really undergone some major changes. I was their last year and the service was great, but the rooms were a bit tired. They have remodeled their rooms and they are awesome. I was also very pleased with the restaurant menu and our server was excellent!!! We will ALWAYS use the Hilton when we are in Durham!
- Pros: Renovated, Friendly Service, Great Rate
