My family and I have been coming to Elmos for the bad 2 years. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if that had been a choice. It usually decent food. I have had some great meals and I have had some horrible meals here. I come back because thet are very kid friendly and the staff is always nice. I also think it is a good value (if the meal was good) for the money. Usually you cannot go wrong with breakfast fare.

If you are looking for a no frills but tasty meal Elmo's is your place. They are kid friendly and the wait for a table is usually not to long. I highly recommend trying one of their soups or quiches, they are delcious.
Remember, this is not a fast food restaurant, so if you have a large group be prepared to wait a while.

Elmo's is a great place for Sunday Brunch and if you get there a little late and find yourself waiting, you can have a cup of coffee and read the paper. The prices are good and the food is better.

I have eaten at Elmo's a few times and the food is average. I do like the wait staff, they are very friendly. If you like breakfast all day, this place is right for you.

We used to go to Elmo's all the time, the atmosphere is very cute, and the staff is quite friendly. The food though, never really stood out for us though. It was always somewhat bland, sometimes undercooked, and often took forever to get.
I know everyone loves Elmo's, and like I said it is very cute, and has become an institution in Durham (we still take friends there when they visit from out of town) but there are a lot of places that have better food in town though...without the lines out the door.
Good Serivce Poor Food, Poor Portion as well

Service was great! Food on the other hand was bad, so fare as the portions sizes. It's a diner not Burger King. After me and my family spent 30.00 dollars plus a good tip for the great service. We went and had to get something to eat at the local Cook Out. Which we was thinking, we should have just gone there all along. We would have spent half the money and would have been more satisfied none the less. The Kids Meal, if that is what you want to call it that. We order burger and applesauce, and oone with carrots. That was a big joke as well. Burger dry , nothing on it. Carrots dry no dipping sauce. Like I said good service bad food.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Service was great!

This is what a good old family restaurant is all about. They've got a huge menu, ranging from a turkey dinner with stuffing and mashed potatoes to breakfast anytime. I love this place. I wouldn't park in their dirt lot--just park down the street and walk a block or so. Also, don't expect to sit down right away, especially for breakfast on the weekends.
- Pros: Solid food, huge selection, great service
- Cons: It's so popular, expect to wait a while at peak times

This restaurant is wonderful. I was a skeptic at first but my friend took me there and changed my mind completely. Great food, Great service and Great prices. What more could you want for a cheap excellent lunch.
- Pros: Cheap good eats
- Cons: Parking-plan to get there before the regulars do for lunch

I just move from Atlanta and had a hard time finding good LOCAL places to eat before Elmo's I had been stuck with chain restaurants and fast food. Elmo's has great breakfast with a friendly staff and relax atmosfera. I have been 2 times and everything had been excelent. So far my favorite place to get breakfast. I recomend the grits, the blueberry panckages are delicious and their omelets to die for.
- Pros: Great Food, friendly Staff
- Cons: none
