by Miller65

I have tried many stylists and Brittany is the best ever. Not only is she excellent with adult styles, she is great with children. You can' t go wrong with Brittany. She listens and makes sure she understands what you want and goes far and beyond what it takes to make sure her customers are satisfied

  • Pros: Brittany
  • Cons: parking

Great Cut and Colour Every Visit

by Catherine Hart

I have been getting my hair cut at Wavelengths Salon for three years. When my first stylist left the salon, my new one was even better. Her name is Brittney Rich. Brittney is a very sweet person who is extremely attentive to creating a style for me that I like and that works for my hair/head. She keeps notes about her customers' styles and colours. She does not have to guess or make me reinact what I want each time I visit. She is also willing to fix anything that I may not like after I have worn the style for a couple of days (which I have not had to do, by the way). Go see Brittney for a great cut and awesome colour!

  • Pros: Sophisticated ambiance, great cut and colour
  • Cons: Parking on 9th street can be a challenge during peak hours.

It took me a long time to find a great hairdresser down here until I found Alesha at Wavelengths! She does an amazing job on my color and cut every time!

The salon is newly renovated and it looks great! Very up to date and stylish!

I would recommend Wavelengths and Alesha to anyone!

Not the best

by jlw414

I went there recently for a haircut and left extremely disappointed. My hair is long, thick, and luckily pretty smooth. I was looking to have my bangs trimmed up (which are in a side swept style) and the layers in my hair freshened up. When I met the stylist, we discussed what I wanted and she made some suggestions. She said that she would like to take some of the weight out of my hair. I agreed thinking that she was going to layer it, but then she pulled out the razor and went through my whole head of hair with it; even the bangs. When I left my hair was frizzy and bushy and I was pretty unhappy. I held my tongue because sometimes it is a matter of restyling it. I washed and blow-dried it at home. I then had to take a flat iron to it just to have lay decently. After all that I was still unhappy so I called the next day. I discussed my issue with the cut with a different stylist that suggested I come in and she could possibly make suggestions or help fix it. I went back and all she proceeded to tell me was that I should just let it grow out and it just sounded like I was unhappy with the razor cut (You're damn right I am!). Also that for her to fix it she would have to charge me. I had very low maintenance hair before this cut. Now I have to use a bunch of product and styling equipment just to be presentable. By the way, the owner was well aware that I was unhappy and never once came to apologize or offer to fix it free of charge. I am now probably going to have to hack off most of the length to be able to manage my hair day to day. I would not go here unless you have a specific stylist recommendation.

Best Place for Men's Cuts!

by jrhmountaineer

I have been looking many years in this area for a stylist or barber to cut my hair well. I would find someone that did a good job but by the second or third cut they would leave me pretty disappointed. But I have been going to the owner of the salon, Sherry, for six months now and every time she does a great job. She is consistent with her work. It is nice to see people take their trade as seriously as they do at Wavelengths. I swore that I wouldn't be able to find as good of a barber/stylist as the one I had in Pittsburgh, PA, which is where I am from. I was wrong!!! Two thumbs up!

  • Pros: Friendly stylists, recently remodeled

A pleasant experience

by Magus12

I get my hair cut at Wavelengths in Durham and Kate Gunther does it for me. I have been really happy with it every single time, without exception. Everybody I have interacted with there has always been very friendly with me. I don't know why I'd go anywhere else. Kate is awesome. The only way it could possibly be better is if my haircut was free!

  • Pros: They do a fantastic job on my hair
  • Cons: But they don't buy me things and take me on exotic trips :-)

Best Haircut Ever

by KayeKaye

I have very thick unruly curly hair that tends to frizz and get out of control. I wanted a haircut that would work with my curls and be rather "wash and wear" because I don't like to fuss in front of the mirror for hours or pile a ton of product on my head. I have tried to find someone who could give me such a cut for most of my adult life with no luck. That is until I went to Wavelengths and saw Crystal. My hair has never been easier to manage or looked better. I am so impressed and happy. And the price was quite reasonable as well! I highly recommend :)

  • Pros: Very talented
  • Cons: parking maybe

Fairly expensive

by lfr

Be prepared to spend at least $50 plus any extra hair items from their product line can easily add another $25. The cut was OK but not a wow or trendy style. Not sure if I would go back again.

  • Pros: Nineth street is a fun place
  • Cons: Expensive

Wonderful Stylist, Great atmosphere

by AMPmotorsports2

I have experienced many salon-tragedy's in this area but since I found Erin, I don't have to worry about that anymore! I wasn't sure about trying out another salon, but Wavelengths is a great place and offers a pleasant atmosphere. Initially, I was just hopeful that I could get a simple trim but I actually ended up with a cut that was dynamic, fun, and totally fit my personality! I also wanted a little color to liven up my hair and he offered great advice as far as what would keep the longest, look good, and would be manageable as far as maintenance b/w visits. I would highly recommend going there to see him. Parking is the only complaint, I would recommend getting there a little early to find a place that allows you to park and walk.
