Excellent hotel with top quality service and amenities. Excellent hospitality and the Fairview restaurant is superb! I recommend you stay for a few nights. The Duke campus is near by and the museum has the lastest exhibition and calendar of events. Many fine restaurants within a 10 mile radius, and great Concierge service. A golf course open to the public with an excellent proshop. Take a tee!

The inn--where celebrities stay when lecturing at Duke--is reminiscent of an English country manor with dark woods, floral prints and European art. The elegance continues throughout its 271 guest rooms and suites decorated with rich fabrics complemented by cotton linens and antique furniture. A minibar, an electronic safe, English toiletries and cable TV are in every room. Inn guests can also can dine at its three restaurants, including the notable Fairview overlooking the golf course.

It was the Duke, it was the Duke...

I'm not quite sure what I expected, but I was completely blown away! Everything about the place was top notch. Th luxury of ordering from the 4-star restaurant, while dining in a lounge area, while sitting in front of a roaring fire was great. My only complaint about the room was the shower pressure could have been stronger. Another nice touch is allowing Duke University students to use their college charge cards at the restaurant. Not a bad place to make a great impression on the opposite sex.

I would recommend the Washington Duke Inn to anyone. The service was the best I had. The dinner was excellent. Service was by far the best I have seen in any hotel/inn.
